Anyone tried this yet?

I bought some today; the car shampoo and polish in paste form. I have to say, on black paint I'm very impressed so far:bow:

I normally use Autoglym SRP; which never fails to get my cars looking good AND gives decent lasting protection. I tried Meguiars Gold Class on the SLK last month and, despite all the hype and recommendations, I was a tad disappointed. Sure it made the black paintwork shine - for about 5 minutes. The next day it looked like I'd wasted my efforts:(

However this Turtle Wax Ice looks like it does the business -the shampoo is one of the best I've used. It cleans the car nicely and runs off well, reducing the need for leathering. Then the polish is easy to use (even in direct sunlight) and leaves no haze or residue - in fact it doesn't matter if you get it on rubber or plastic trim, it just buffs off!! The whole car now has that "wet look" shine and the paintwork feels as smooth as glass; plus if it's anything like previous Turtle Wax products, the protection should last and keep beading water for ages. Long term protection is something that many other polishes (including the "great" Meguairs) fall behind with (according to Auto Express testing);)

It's not cheap - the paste was £19.99; but with Halfords 3 for 2 on Turtle Wax products I bought that plus the shampoo and a spray for "in between waxes" cleaning for £27. I reckon it was worth it and I'll give the Z a once over with it tomorrow!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

PS, that's been on the car for 6+ months. :)

which one of these is it matey

I would have thought meguires paint cleaner and clay bar would be good enough to prep it?

Hmm - not sure if my paint would stand up to being clay barred... I reckon it's been T-cut to within an inch of it's life before I got it and the paint seems really thin. Maybe I should hold on until I can afford a respray first!

Not sure if I am right on this, but I don't think clay bar takes the paint off, it just removes deposits on the paint!

Not sure myself, but I thought that it was a pretty intensive process anyway? Would be happy to be told otherwise though!

Clay bars are supposed to only remove surface contaminents, and not the paint itself. If you are unsure there are mild clays available just to be on the safe side (for example - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/detailing-clay/sonus-green-ultra-fine-clay-refill/prod_327.html)

The best way to prep paint before a wax application would be to clay first, rinse and dry, then use a primer cleaner such as Dodo Juice Lime Prime (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/dodo-juice/dodo-juice-lime-prime-250ml/prod_441.html). This enables the wax to bond properly with the paint, and adds to the gloss. I've used waxes with and without a primer, and it definitely looks/works better with the primer.

And no, I'm not on commission :D

Lol nice - cheers mate :) Maybe I will give it a go then. I know my paint isn't fantastic at the mo, but I suppose it'll make sure it stays nice until I can get a respray done!
