Adjustable front tension rods, adjustable upper front control arms and adjustable rear camber arms then a nice trip to a 4 wheel laser alignment place. :)

And further to FunkySi's post, may I suggest the Powertrix adjustable suspension range of products. Superior build quality and specifically designed for the 300ZX (as oposed to a lot of other parts available online which are adaptations of S14 or Skyline parts). Here are the current prices I can do these for:

Adjustable upper arms (front): £230.00

Adjustable tension rods: £135.00

Adjustable upper arms (rear): £160.00

Shipping: £18.00.

Let me know if you require any further advise/help.

All the best,

Dan

Didn't realise you had to do anything to the rears??

The rears have some adjustment in them as standard, but not enough for a 40mm drop

mine is 40mm lower too, and the stance looks really odd, ive got the front uppers and rears on order, how much do you need the tension rods? and how much is the alignment?

doesn't it just boil down to tracking???

shouldnt fit adjustable upper link arms without adjustable tension robs.

Pete,

If you are running adjustable upper arms (front) then I always recommend the adjustable tension rods as well. Reason for this is that once adjusted, the upper arms will exert a great deal of strain/stress on the stock tension rods which will then be liable to fail prematurely (either the bush splitting or worse, the whole arm cracking). It is therefore always advisable to install the adjustable tension rods alongside the adjustable upper arms.

As for the price of tracking - it really depends on where you go and how much work needs to be done. A straight forward 4-wheel realignment (with no major adjustments required) can cost about £60. However, I've recently had the tracking adjusted on my wife's MX5 and had it set up exactly who I wanted it (ie, little to no understeer) and the car was in the air for over 2 hours. Cost me around £120 for the privilege but the car handles like it's on rails now! So, you really get what you pay for. I would suggest you find a place that has dealt with cars that use 4-wheel steering systems.

What adjustments did you make to counter understeer apart from more negative camber and more toe out?, Im a bit stuck on caster adjustment, iv had mine adjusted which pulled the wheels back to where they should be but im wondering if a little forward is better for overall weight balance ( having engine weight slightly more central than leaning over the front, Does that make sense?). Any idea on angles to give to the tracking shop? Also with the caster adjusted further back it has raised the front quite noticeably which is annoying as it doesnt sit as i want it, meaning i may lower it again requiring yet another alignment doh.

hi dan,

i spoke with you today about these items, and want these, but how long do you think it will take for delivery.

cheers matey

al.

I still cannot understand why it will need adjustable tension rods??

It shouldnt really affect it in anyway as in stress as the bottom ball joint will take any of the movement as you are only moveing the top out to match the bottom??
