Well i've not had a good start to the day to say the least ,started the Z up this morning and just could not initialy get the car to to take off in first :headvswal

(revs kept on going up as if was in N), after a short while warming up it seemed to jump in to the gear but wouldnt change from first in to second!, after driving up and down the street it became obvious i couldnt use it for work today

so ended up taking my mums old fiesta instead

ive been reading most of the gearbox threads and the signs dont look good to say the least (but not really had any early warning signs!)

im off work tomorrow so gonna do a diagnostic and poss drain and clean filter out over the weekend with the help of a friend (i hope)

and just see what happen's from there

just a quick up date, phoned a local gearbox specialist on my dinner break who advised if the oil change and filter clean out gives no joy and i dont want to drive it to him , he'd come and take a peek free of charge over the weekend :) , but agreed it sounds like the box is giving up

Just as she was running so well 2:(

Sounds about right mate, sorry for the trouble bud

thanks mate , just have to see what the change and clean out brings , but i think its giving up badly

just suprised it was more sudden than pre-warned

i admit i dont use the car everyday but checked oil not that long ago and gear change's where smooth!

well did the diagnostic yesterday and twice it showed no faults so , obviously mechancal?

gonna have this autobox specialist look at it, but thats not gonna be until monday now from what he's said , but im not holding out for much lol,

will keep u all posted:)

Gutted :( Would it not be cheaper to convert it to a manual??

There is no way it would be cheaper! There are plenty of good auto boxes knockin about for under £300, you are looking at atleast double that for the manual parts and then the extra labour aswell!

Would be a better option if you can afford it tho :D

well had the local gearbox specialist come and he has confirmed it's on it's way out for sure

strange though as it did go through most of the gears ok when he took it around the block apert from a non to pleasent jolt , lol

but then today when i wanted to move it up the drive a bit couldnt get it to even take off !

im not short have a car to use though my mum rearely use's her's these days

so may leave it off the road for now and save some funds up to do some other things 2:)

Well just an Update as such ive not done any more apart from check the oil and may clean the filter out but still struggles in each gear so gonna cover The Z up and leave it off the rd for a while

hopefully as im putting a fair few hrs in work should be able to save some proper funds and get some other things done 2 !!

at least that's the plan anyway!
