Can someone advise me of the costs involved in getting a Zed to the UK ?

Import Duty ?

VAT ?

Registration ?

Does the value for Customs purposes have to be the same as the price paid ?

Thanks everyone

Mark

(Seriously thinking about getting back into Zed ownership)

Speak to Kirbz on here mate, he's imported a few.

COst of the car+ shipping ( around 400 i think, its been a while :wack:) + 27.5% vat and duty when it enters the country, 38 quid regsitration fee for the V5, then cost of the conversion for mot(100 quid or ther abouts) then the actual mot :)

Things start getting more expensive if you bring in one thats less than 10 YO :headvswal

Thanks guys.

I've found a real peach but at £4,500 before duty and VAT it's gonna be a bit steep !! Still I've been looking a while so maybe its worth it for the right one.....we'll see :-)

Thanks

Hi Mark, you could try giving VDS Automotive a ring on 01332 814259. They import from Japan (amongst other places) and do everything in-house (conversions, MOT's, SVA's etc.).

BTW, I start working for them on Monday so if you do decide to use their services, I'll be valeting it for you :D

Thanks guys.

I've actually found a Z I want but am worried about overpaying for it. The question is really how much are they worth IN JAPAN ? I know that's a stupid question as there are so many variables but as a general rule I've always thought these cars are virtually worthless over there after a matter of a few years - let alone a 94/95 standard model !

I suppose I'll just have to decide if it's worth the asking price to ME........

:-)

its worth paying a little more for the right car mate. if you pass less and get a car that isnt what you wanted you may regret it.

go for it and just make sure you give it a good look over  :D

That's the other problem mate. Its still in Japan so its a matter of trust in the dealer........unless I can persuade my misses I need a city break to Tokyo !

No chance of that so its a leap of faith !

big risk its just deciding whether its worth it or not. isn't there one over here you like to save importing??

Its a mint one owner 95 car with no miles on it to speak of in the right colour no mods apart from OEM updates etc etc..........I guess in my heart I've bought it but my head just needs to get with the program !!!
