Got a xmas present of a sony bdp-300 blue-ray player.Guess what?....thats right it's f**ked, sony so far has frustrated me on it's helplines and online support. Shop It was bought in (major retail chain xtra-vision here in Ireland) don't want to know as it's over the 28 days return option. Gave me sony phone numbers to call with the usual bullshit "we're so sorry but it's not our problem".

Thing is, I've been doing a little research on sony blue ray players. Most seem to be turkeys especially the model I have. :headvswalThey offer firmware upgrades so you can download and upgrade your machine. Absolute crap the lot of it. I remember the same thing happening when DVD first emerged, It takes a couple of years of trial and error to get the technology sorted.

So, if any of you guys/gals are getting a blu-ray player this year..and I have to say they are amazing... when they work..... DON'T BUY SONY:rant: do some research on the best tried and tested.

I'm going back to the shop tomorrow and I'm going to drop the thing on the counter and give them a right *****king.:mad::mad:

I have a sagem hdtv which is brilliant and had no problems whatsoever and i use either hd dvd on the 360 or blueray through the pc on there and no issues. My sony sat nav on the other hand is constantly going wrong and i've had the same problem with every sony product i've owned

ive got the sony 550 bluray player and its superb, i had a samsung bluray before that one but the sony 300 and 550 along with the panasonic ones are the best ones on the market!! take it back and threaten them with trading standards or go to the press ;)

never had any issues with sony, think they area great, will the store not offer some sort of repair service, most retailers do when past the 28 days, the thing you will find is most keep quiet about it as it is usually a pain in the arse booking it in and sending it away, if you go in and just ask to speak directly to the manager of the store, that way you know you arnt getting no bull from the lazy sales assistant on a 10 hour contract just there for some beer money.

hope you get it sorted mate
