ECU test code 21

Hi folks ive just run a test on my ECU and its come up with code 21 fault which is ignition signal fault. Has anyone had this before and where do i go next to start finding the fault. Its on a Z32 TT.

Code 21 is caused by either ptu failure or bad connection on the ptu,usually the lower of the two connectors is the problem.

 

Is the engine not starting at the moment? if so remove and clean the connector, if however the engine does run and you got the code when checking it`s an old code, still clean the connector to be on the safe side and clear the code by leaving the battery disconnected overnight.

 

A failed ptu is still possible if you have a non starter despite cleaning the connectors.
