I am having a engine rebuild and have taken loads of pics.

I thought I would start a thread and share my pics and progress through this.

All the work is getting done at Custom exotics, but though It would start stripping what I could off the engine at home in the garage.

I have never done this before so It felt a bit daunting, but after a while I was enjoying It and was pleased I started stripping it myself ( felt I was learning more about my engine by doing this)

I have managed to remove the drive belts, radiator, AC radiator, PS pump, AC compressor, alternator. All the intercooler pipes removed along with the inlet pipes to the turbos, some were a right pain. All the electrical connections on the top removed and the ones round the side I could see as well. I found the heater matrix pipes were bloody hard to disconnect. I disconnected some boost hoses, but reckon there are a few more I have forgotten lol. I have been using the guides for engine removal from here and found them very helpful.

Looking at the amount of wires and hoses there are in the engine bay is scary, but I hope to simplify the bay a lot and make it look a lot less cluttered along with a bit of bling. If you ever seen DUBSPEC engine bay from the aussie forum then you know what I mean. I am aiming for something like that.

More stripping later this week, glad I'm labeling and taken loads of pics.

Here are a couple of pics of the car as it looks now down at Custom Exotics.

Thanks,

Ant

It has been a long time since i put some pictures up. The engine has come along a bit further since the last pictures.

I've got both the heads on had a few bits sent away to be polished and chromed and have since received them back.

Custom exotics and myself decided on a second colour to go on the engine ( you will see in the pics below what colour we went with )

The stronger timing belt i went with only seemed to be in blue, but the top of it will be covered so you wont see too much of it.

Turbos are on didn't realise how much bigger they are than the OEM ones.

Hope you enjoy the pictures :D

Thanks for the comments, just can't wait to get it finished now, didn't think it would take this long. I'm still enjoying doing the rebuild tho.

 you must have some pretty deep pockets! Gonna look awesome

And a very understanding girlfriend :D

Yay nice - those exhaust Cam bolts are very strange size - I am stuffed trying to find replacements for those - if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear from them ;-))

The guys at custom exotics measured it and its M7 x 1.

I wanted to get allen key head ones and with the size i need i think i'm going to have to go to a specialist to find this odd size.

They are not M8 or M6 - my whole engine had been re-done with SS Marine grade hex head bolts - but I think those baby's are M7!!!!!

Have yet to find an M7 bolt to try it - but I know they are used on racing/mountain bikes so will keep looking ;-))

Sorry man - you beat me to it ha ha

Good to get confirmation of the size though - well done.
