Hi, Not long had my auto box reconditioned and dont use the car very often. when i first picked the vehicle up i took it for a spin on the motorway. i found that the vehicle would red line and not change up. if i came off the accelerator and back on then it would change up a gear this carried on through every gear? is this the box relearning the limits? Also now when ive used the vehicle for a while maybe half an hour the vehicle stops in 3rd gear and redlines and wont change up until i turn it off and let it go cold??

Many Thanks Andy

P.S. Ive already had the auto cooler add some time ago.

there is auto box diagnostic...do a search for how to...cant recall off the top of my head how to...but might give you a clue if anything has gone kaput :)

Holding in 3rd gear is a built in get you home fail safe for when there is an electronic fault that the gearbox ecu can recognise.

As Uno said a code check on the autobox will be the place to start, posts any results here.

Hi all. Took the vehicle back today to where i got it reconditioned because of this fault and they told me there is no fault codes stored and the Auto control unit required updating lol !!!!!! i checked for fault codes before it went and there wasnt any stored. Not convinced this fixed it felt like i was been spun a lie. On the way home all was ok and changing gears ok. Until the gearbox was warm and i put my foot down and then i was red lining all over again. Now ive got to take it back really getting p***ed off now. Anything i can do to solve this problem?

Regards Andy

Mmm, no updating required for the autobox ecu, not even possible to do it, sounds like you will have to insist they sort it whilst it is still under warranty.

Update! took the vehicle back to the garage who did the rebuild last week, they was telling me the gearbox oil was getting too hot and the external cooler i had fitted last year was not good enough!!!! they wanted to fit a fan cooled rad!! not thinking this would solve the problem took it to VMTP who Zedworld use and knowing them through work i knew they would come up trumps. Had a call from them today and they believe the problem lies with the gearbox oil. they drained some out and its Orange!! and like a gel!! but smells like AFT!! looks like its way to thick to pump around the box then in turn getting hot!! They doing an oil change Monday lets hope it fixes the car.

Regards Andy
