think i may have rain water getting somewhere it shouldn't, car runs fine whenever its been dry for a few days(not often), day after a good downpour it doesn't want to shift up when it should (its a 91 jdm TT auto), it will run to 4-5k revs before shifting up and if you ease off the throttle revs drop, back on the throttle and its as if its in neutral.

really is becoming a PITA, leaving it in 'hold' mode sorts it, but kinda spoils the point of having a zed, anyone got any ideas what it could be???

thanks in advance

Check the mass air flow meter, if its damp it dosent like it, mine did this for ages in the wet, make sure you have the plastic guard inside the bumper.

IIRC Theres a switch on the Gearbox i think that tells the ECU if your in Neutral or not, if its bust it doesnt know causeing revs to die trying to stall itself if you don change gears! I know its on the Manuals but dont know about the Autos!

I had EXACTLY the same problem, mine would to change perfectly from 1st to 2nd, but wouldn't get into third until i gave it beans (mine changed at 6000+, which ain't good when ya've only done 20 miles on a full-rebuild!) And also felt as if the non-existent foot clutch was slipping... (I never got out of 3rd, as most of the roads near me aren't long enough to keep changing gears at 6000+ rpm in a zedTT without hitting something solid head-on :-)

Anyways, I bought a manwell, and ripped the auto out today, sorry I can't be of more help mate, just thought i would share my same issues with ya ;-)

tps checked and clean(except oil in grey block??? terminals all shiney)

maf terminals all clean (got an apexi thing in there if that makes any difference)

any explanation as to why hold mode being on sorts the issue?

has been doing this for about 6 months now, day after heavy rain everytime for a few days, leave for a few 'dry' days and it rights itself like it has done today.

Mine did this right before the gearbox went pop, wouldn't shift into 3rd until the redline, evenytually It went completely. :(
