I'm an avid cycler and in the summer months, cycle 24 miles per day to and from work. I've been doing this on a 1992 GT I Drive 4 mountain bike, and can tell you that 24 miles in nobbly tired, with full suspension that can't be locked out is hard going. So I have taken the plung and ordered myself:
A Specialized, Sirrus Pro Carbon Hybrid/road race bike. Managed to pickup last years model for £999.99. Best of all, as I'm doing this on a cycle to work scheme so will save 43% (the bike will cost me £570 over the next 12 months).
Now I'm not into saving the planet, don't by into the whole Global Warming business (that it's become), and am not worried about petrol prices going up, as I drive a Zed (20 MPG) and a 1998 Jaguar XJ Sport, 3.2 ltr V8. I do however love cycling. This bike was originally £1300 so a bargain. Time to get fit again now that the nights are getting longer.
