can anyone that knows owt about setting these things up help me - the following settings used to give me about 15psi, but since ive had the engine tweaked (timing, a/f ratio corrected etc.) the same settings are giving me 12psi.

with my setup i'm looking to aim for 17psi, but can someone suggest what the settings should be for 15, 16, and 17? or is it a matter of driving to my personal test track and having a (very careful) play?

set: 75

gain: 14

start: 9.10

cheers

i would keep the gain as it is and turn up the set a little at a time until you hit 17psi

:)

cheers mate ill give that a try!

That gain looks high for an E01, a while since i set one up but think they normally run about 7-9 gain.

Put the start to 0 initially, set the gain to 8 then play with the setting to give about 12psi. Next adjust the gain to give boost boost response without too much spinking or instability. Once that's done then trim the setting to give the desired boost level and put the start boost about 3-4psi below that.

thanks for that John - sorry mate I must have missed your post. ive made some notes and will start to tweak the settings on the journeys to and from work!

once my remaining list of modifications is installed (stage 2 tubs, single-piece prop and NA diff) then i'll be looking to put her in for a damn good rolling road session. the last time it was set up on a rolling road was by Thor nearly 4 years ago! back then it was a different colour, different transmission type, and only putting out about 300bhp :slap:

well, 'shortly' after i started this thread (!) ive started to chase a solid 17psi - so i'll keep this post updated with my tests. on the run to work and back i get about 6 safe opportunities when the Z's warmed up enough, so i've been running flat out in 4th and keeping an eye on the boost levels, then adjusting the settings slightly when im back home ready for the next day's run.

these were my initial settings that were originally giving me 15psi, but which dropped down to 12.5psi after a bit of unrelated tweaking and tuning from Jeff.

set: 75

gain: 14

start: 9.10

these were my first test settings

set: 70

gain: 8

start: 0

...not sure what the 'start' option does, but with these settings I got a steady 12.5psi with no spike at all. turbos seemed slower to respond though, given the lower gain.

tomorrow im going to run with these, as im not sure how much difference 5% will make!:

set: 75

gain: 8

start: 0

...next to none! next up...

set: 75

gain: 8

start: 6.0

...nope - the same! tomorrow will be...

set: 75

gain: 8

start: 9.0

..same...used these on the way home...

set: 75

gain: 8

start: 12.0

...not a blind bit of difference - still 12psi :headvswal perhaps someones turned the limiter down or something! ill check it tomorrow. ive just found a big write-up about setting up the B-spec 2 (which I assume is the same as setting up the E-01) and its just confused me more as to how the boost builds up under a controller :( in my frustration i'll set everything to 99 and see what happens ;)

aha, getting somewhere!

set: 75

gain: 10

start: 12.0

just upping the gain slightly gave me almost 14psi! the difference of just those couple of psi was quite noticeable too! :hyper: have now tweaked it to:

set: 75

gain: 11

start: 13.0

set start 3psi below your desired boost, so for 17 you want it on 14, for 12 you want it on 9 ..etc

This will help the boost to come on quicker and stronger

updated my post above - I'll try John's suggestion and start to up the Gain (i'll knock the START back down a little for now), then put the START up to 14psi when i'm almost there (which will probably be Christmas at this rate, lol!)
