I thought id treat it to new plugs, as looked old sooty and tired, removed plugs inserted new ones, started it and it ran but there were flicking tick tick noises, like the noise you woul hear on a ht lead that was shorting out but no sparks to be seen or anything so iturned it off, i checked as best i could nothing was out of place or wrong, all seemed ok, so started it again and was running on 3 cylinders, and engine sounded weird, then it dropped to 2 cyls i wiggled the wiring loom that supplies the coils and injectors and it went to 3/4 cyls then dropped to maybe one then chucked it and now wont start at all HELP! ive tried another ptu, no good, mines a series 2 anyway, and its giving code 21, ignition signal circuit?? does this mean the wiring loom is wrecked or is it something else, dont think i disturbed the inj connectors?, at anytime, ive reset ecu, no good what the heck do i do now ??? aaaarghh it ran like a swiss watch before i changed plugs mega quiet and smooth and looks brand new under bonnet nothing outta place and nothing ever visibly faffed on with??

NGK pfr6b -11c and its no different with old plugs back in either so not that simple im afraid

i would check that all the rubber washers are in place under the balance bar, maybe some kind of air leak, also chack all elec connectors, even if you have checked them, check them again and make sure everything is tight

Hey mate

From what you said about wiggling the loom it sounds like it may be that your loom needs looking at. Have you had a good look at each of the coil pack connectors? Try taking a coilpack and a spark plug and try connecting it to each coil pack connector and see if you get a spark when you short it against the plenum with the ignition on.

Oh welcome to my world, right more than one issue to deal with there, as it is highly likely you have disturbed the injectors connectors unintentially you will need to disconnect them all and clean and refit them.

The code 21 is ignition fault, the series two ptu does have a failing in the connector, look at the connector that has seven cable in it, and check the black one, this is the unit earth and often that particular pin pushes back into the connector and makes a poor connection, it may well of just been waiting to play up and now it has, make sure its a good contact and do the same with the cas unit connection, the connection on this is just as likely to play up when disturbed.

Have fun
