Got my first 300ZX twin turbo just before Xmas, loving it. Had the 200SX previously.

Slight query, if left on tickover on first starting, she burns oil / smokes until I pull away and everything heats up.

After this, no smoke whatsoever. Therefore I'm not sure whether its worn rings as she would smoke all the time? Or is this the early signs??

Could it be turbo gasket on way out?

Any help much appreciated.....pics to follow soon.

thanks, i want to get some pictures up (not the ones of me in a dress, ones of my CAR!) how can i ? i realise i'm being a spaz....

register an account on photobucket (its free) upload and paste the image links in a post...

I chucked a link in your other thread....

Oh and the pics in the dress - get em up too

what colour smoke mate? - theyll always burn a bit of water off from the zorst when its been cold/wet outside. blue on overrun and idle could be your pcv valves failing (£80-ish for parts to replace) or maybe something a little worse.

oh and try not to let her run at idle when cold for a long period of time - best to drive it first to get the engine 'lubed up.

just seen your photos thread mate and your motor is in immaculate condition - keep it looking that way!!

Oi you can thank me for that guide :D Good innit :D :duffer:

Seriously tho - welcome to the club mate :D

Now get the freakin piccies up :D

and u'll have to try harder than that to see me as 'janet' LOL

thanks yous lot!

first off I might put some of that stuff that 'swells' the gaskets into my oil (can't remember the name of it), I've used it before to give gaskets a bit of a new lease of life and it won't do any harm even if it doesn't cure it. I did suspect valve seals but I hope its not that....

but yes, I'll not leave her idling on cold from now on.

I'll post pics and the spec up soon, she is in beautiful condition everything works as it should and somebody is going to want to buy my number plate....D300X!! (shame i couldn't get D300ZX!!)

thanks for your help, got the pics up, hope you like!

will be asking alot of Q's regarding best mods etc, she is pretty standard apart from a chip upgrade, bespoke S/S exhaust (bigger than stock pipes), strut brace, uprated discs and pads and the antera alloys (£1700 worth!)

more to follow.....

That looks really really nice!! Do like it alot

why thank you kind laydeee. I like it. Alot.

I dont really need to do anything to it, its a UK spec Twin Turbo manual, 98K, thousands of ££ in bills receipts, cam belts done 4K miles ago including waterpump etc and its pleeeeeenty fast enough! Scary in the wet.

any suggestions on what to look out for with things going wrong....?

Is it deffo a UK spec? looks like the kit and fogs lamps etc are jap but the nissan badge and headlamp washers are UK. Looks a nice car anyway mate

Not sure it's a UK spec unless it's had a complete colour change. AFAIK, silver was not available on European and UK spec Z32s.

Yea its strange, uk front bumper, nissan nose panel but jap colour, jap back bumper and jap front lights... does you speedo go up to 180MPH?

Rear bumper isn't UK spec because it's aftermarket....

I see..........(loads more lines for no reason at all)..........

It is UK spec, but bumpers / kit obviously aftermarket. The headlights are upgraded Jap spec units with better reflectors, and fogs etc also Jap spec I think.

I'll check the V5, you have me concerned!

Headlights are exactly the same AFIK. Yours have just had chrome fitted as an aftermarket feature. It doesn't effect beam pattern or projection.

Your smoke problem (unless there is oodles coming out) sounds more like PCV Valves and is a relatively easy fix. I really would resist sticking gasket swelling crap in a car like the 300zx - likely to do more damage than good.

Great looking car.

Does the turbo gauge on the dash have 7 either side or 14?
