With the recent cold weather I went out to open my Zed turned the key, heard a click and something fall to the inside of the door and now can do a fill 360 with the key in the lock.... it is super safe though as I can't get into the fkr now :-)

 

Question: Where can I get a new lock, or get this one repaired? and what is the likely damage? I'm in South Wales.

You might find it's not actually broken buddy, there's a plastic locking clip on various parts of the linkage that can loosen up and pop open and the linkage drop off. Take your door card first and check to see what's happened first

You can swap the clip from the passenger side... but if that goes you;re looking at climbing in through the boot!! The clip isn't available seperately either! Best to try a breaker - late models had a metal clip which will prevent it happening again!

Damn it I need to re-sub to edit!! You'll almost certainly find it's the small yellow clip on the end of the lock rod - brittle at the best of times, never mind when it's this cold!!

I think i might have 1 in the shed of bits and bobs.. i'll have a look for ya.

You probably wont believe it but mine did the same today aswell, only mine is in the unlocked state !!!!!!!

 

Living in Germany dont help the situation either. If anyone can help me out it would be helpfull, obviously the thread starter comes first. Any costs i will sort out.

This is always a dignified entrance! i have to do this when my battery goes flat and my central locking wont open the bleeding doors! if the boot goes im royally f**ked!!!

This happened to mine. A quick trip down the scrappy's and i had a couple of old micra ones. Not a 100% acurate fit but using 2 of them (i seem to remember they are a bit thinner) i managed to get it all fixed. Many, Many door opens later it still feels good. Probably the only bit on the car that actually works.

can you not just find the bits and just glue them back together, that's what I did :)

this happened to me some time ago and glued it together and put a small hose clip around it and it held ever since but word of warning it is very difficult to get at you need the handel unbolted and removed and hands as small as vernes in big brother to get at it. Very commen fault in the zed

The part that breaks is only available with the barrel and cost on the region of £55 from Nissan.

 

If you need one quickly just remove the one from the passenger door lock, how many times do you need to be able to open the doors from the passenger side, they are handed but with a small tab filed off it fits.

same problem with mine-plastic piece sheared off-tried to fix it and broke another piece on connecting rod!!!just bought complete door lock internals from breakeryard.com for £30 plus postage.

I had this break on mine managed to get hold of a metal one not sure if nissan changed to metal ones at some point in production.;)

got door lock internals-but no plastic clip....shite!!! has anybody out there got one?trying to get car ready for Z009.
