Argh!

 

I'm about to fit an Option oil pressure gauge but I can't find any definitive answers on whether the sender that comes with it will fit in the stock location. I've done a search and found Jimmy's post, but I don't know if he was trying to use the stock location or not - were ya Jimmy?

 

My existing stock sender is about knackered, so I don't mind getting rid of it and just using my new gauge, but I want to make sure it'll go in or I can get the right bits ordered before I have my brand new oil coating my drive...

 

The sender it comes with has a 1/8 NPT thread - will this go in or will I need an adapter? I tried the site suggested by Z32 (gaugeplace.co.uk) but it's been taken down...

Pretty sure the stock sensor will be a BSP thread, most likely 1/8 BSPT.

Don't put the NPT fitting in there. The only difference between 1/8 NPT and 1/8 BSPT is that one is 27tpi and one is 28 - problem then is it feels like it's fitting OK then wrecks the thread as you tighten it.

Cheers John - thought that may be the case as the water temp sensor one doesn't fit. So, does anyone know where I can get an adapter, and with the extra length out of the stock sensor location, will it foul on anything?

 

Just a thought - my car is JDM - will this make any difference to the thread sizes they will have used, or are they the same no matter what the region?

John's correct (as usual..lol) I fitted a 1/8NPT sender in the stock sensor location and it was ok for the first few turns then tightened up, I didnt remove it as I knew the thread would be damaged but luckily it dont leak.

What you need is one of these.

you can retain your stock oil sender and fit the aftermarket one cheap as chips.
