There's a lot of enjoyment to be had from driving a nice car that's worth f*ck all.
Quoting me now!

I'm contemplating spraying mine powder blue, myself,on the drive, in the summer. if it's a mess nothing lost,if it's nice lucky me, it's not worth anything anyway!

That last Z you stated is mine :D i hope things are on the up but im just stubborn and won't go lower!! Its not worth selling for less (hence why its been on sale for 6 months lol) but i still use it as normal, just if anyone does come up with the cash then i'm willing to sell.

No, why not! As I said, it's not worth anything,it's something to do.

Planning on doing it to a black one, and fact, black(dark) is a horrible colour for a 300, even my neighbour commented on it "is that a different car from the silver one", dark colours just kill the lines of the car.

As an aside don't know whether it's my computers or this websites spellchecker but it can put as many red lines under neighbour or colour or spelt as it likes but they're spelt correctly, f@ck off.

and fact, black(dark) is a horrible colour for a 300,

If it's a shabby one yes, but totally disagree. infinitely nicer than disability-blue.

Nope, stick by my earlier comments, and I think your photo proves it, it looks like a big black lump. With your large inventory of pics you're probably in a better position than me to put a pic up of a light color from the same angle, different looking car.

Also if you're not busy stick one up of a 240Z straight side on, all stubby and nice, instead of the usual angled 40 mile long bonnet look that you usually see.

Not much point in that case. It'll just be a big red lump or big blue lump.

No, that's the point. Black kills all the lines, lighter colours accentuate the lines.

I agree to an extent, but a clean black Z is as beautiful as any other colour IMO.

you are talking this out with a man in a pearl white Z, lol......but yes white is better looking than black :D

Shush....listen to what the man has to say :smash: :wack: :D

No worries. Just trying to look at how pics and colours can affect perceptions.

Back on topic then, 300's are worth f*ck all, wanted prices in ad's are not an indication of how much 300's are worth, as I said before if you want to know how much your car is worth stick it on ebay.

You can say the same about EVERYTHING and if everyone had that outlook, everyone would be just giving stuff away for free.

I don't think new Perodua Kelisas are worth £5k, but it doesn't mean the market can't ask that for them. Something like a Z is only worth what people are prepared to pay (being an enthusiasts car). I'd still pay £4k - £5k for a really good manual TT. Just because you think they are worth sod all, doesn't mean they don't still have a value. :)

Don't see much going for free on ebay. Suppose most people are the same, if they want to buy something, check ebay prices, check online retail prices, check high street/local/garage prices, get the best deal they can, selling's the same, if you can get a local buyer that doesn't want the hassle of traveling or wants a quick deal you can get a premium price, but it's a premium price not a market price, and a market price is what you'll get on ebay and that's an old commie speaking.

I wouldn't buy an ebay Z nor would I ever put my Z on ebay and the cars that tend to go up are ones that people want to get rid of quickly. I wouldn't base any value on stuff that sells on ebay what so ever. Same goes for regular car auctions. Invariably, Z-wise, it's for a quick sale, crap/deathtrap or both. Ebay certainly isn't the place to guestimate market values as it's so hit-miss. You 'can' find good Zs on ebay, but IMO, it's a gamble.

O.K. You're not going to accept an ebay "whose prepared to pay the most" as an accurate valuation of a 300. How do you value it? Anyone got a Glasses guide or Parkers value. How much I'm prepared to sell it for isn't a market valuation.

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay at the time you wanna sell it! - That is the be all and end all of selling anything :D :duffer:

/discussion

Nor, is an insurance valuation, that's a risk valuation that you ain't going to wrap a insured value £10,000 car thats only worth £2,000 within a year.

Like I said, Zs that tend to go on ebay are tired/people that want a quick sell. Highest bidders generally aren't going to pay what an enthusiast would on a known car in tip-top condition and vice versa, enthusiasts with tip-top condition Zs aren't going to let them go for a song on ebay unless they have to.

Read your last post and agreed with pretty much everything you said, had to go back to the original post to remind myself what the original debate was about.

So, you'd have to be pretty enthusiastic to pay £9000 for an '89 300. If you're that enthusiastic buy 5 £1000 cars (one of them is got to be half decent) and you've still got £4000 to enthusiastically spend on mods.

As zx-eyes said something is worth as much as someone is prepared to pay, no one will pay what the cars in the first post are asking for.

No, prices aren't rising for 300's.

no one will pay what the cars in the first post are asking for.

Exactly, I suggested that about 3 pages back.

No, prices aren't rising for 300's.

I don't think they are (although I think they've stabalised), but the opportunity of finding good examples is getting much harder and those are the cars that are still worth decent money for.

I wouldn't pay £9k for a Z. Maybe a rare 99-spec version-R I would. But I'd certainly pay good money for a stunner.
