rear brakes are the same on all.

Front brakes are slightly smaller up on an NA up to late 91

Suspension is the same except for spring rates and Rear Antiroll bar size

Complete rear subframe and rear Diff is different as you've mentioned, and its a good idea to keep the NA rear for the lower weight, hicas removal and gearing.

Gearboxes and propshafts are different, but fit both engines. NA gearbox will require NA clutch & flywheel but you can modifiy the bellhousing if you want to fit TT clutch/flywheel.

You would need to weld on brackets for the Intercooler piping as the NA chassis is missing them.

Fuel pump is different (easy swap)

ECU is different (easy swap)

EFI Wiring loom is different, you would need to fit a Electronic Boost controller.

Above is from Legrath from one of my old posts about swopping shells.

thanks mate,

what about the loom? can you use the NA loom?

also can you go into the EFI boost thing a bit more?

also if anyone else has anything to add please feel free...

The Looms are different. You are basically missing the Boost solenoid wiring on the NA loom. So there is no feed to the boost solenoids which would result in permanent 7psi boost.

You dont have to replace the loom though, if you just fit a Electronic boost controller then problem solved.

I also seemed to have missed out above the part about the Radiators brackets. NA lower rad bracket supports are in a different place, you would need to cut and reweld them in the correct place to fit TT radiator.

much difference in the TT and NA radiators?

sounding like a bit of much work :S

NA rad wont fit in with the Intercooler pipework, so you'll need to fit TT one.

If you were to fit a FMIC kit for example then you would'nt need to do anything with IC pipe brackets. That would just leave the Radiator brackets. If you can weld or know somebody that doe then its only 5 mins work to sort them out.

does the prop from a manual fitt the diff from an auto?

ive got a auto shell now :wack:

NA diff uses different prop fitment to TT diff. So you need the rear half of an NA prop , and for the front half you will need a Manual front prop half.

Make sure the rear half is from a LWB (front half is same for LWB/SWB)

actually,

im putting my TT subframe on the back, so the diff has to come off also,

il use the T diff and TT prop, with my manaul box

ok, yeh, thats fine then.

Personally I would'nt swap them, the NA diff and subframe is a great modification to a TT - Less weight, removed hicas and 4.08 rear diff ratio makes a big difference in acceleration. People go to a lot of trouble to fit the NA setup onto a TT.

yea i know,

but the car hasnt got a subframe at all. so my TT one has to go on

  • Author

just another thaught,

when i put my TT subframe on the NA car,

will the hicas work? on my TT car there is a hicas light that comes on if hicas not working etc,

there are obviously no wires on the NA car to connect the the TT subframe??

You don't want to keep the hicas, believe me an NA diff is one of the best mods to a tt car

yea i know,

but like i said, the car has no subframe on it at all.

so my TT subframe will have to do.

so will this be a problem? as im putting a Hicas subframe on a car that didnt have Hicas in the first place?

  • Author

got a NA subframe on the car :)

is the Air Flow meter the same on the NA to the TT?

just thinking of any last little bits, as picking the car up friday, and the engines out of mine today....
