Going to have to take it to someone who knows there stuff with these as as i thought its down on power, i have so far checked for boost leak, checked ecu and have code 55, cleaned terminals tbs, had a mechanic put it on his diag, nothing wrong at all, it has 11 psi showing on the guage and sounds fit as a fiddle, no missfire, and runs lovely, dead smooth etc, however i got outdragged by a boy racer in a civic tonight, what a disaster

I agree must have been a turbo'd B16a lump to do that (or no traction but I am sure you knew if you were laying the power to the tarmac). :nana2:

Not uncommon to find what seems like a perfectly well running zed is in fact underperforming due to set up issues, having said that Civic Type R do have Sh?t hot acceleration but top out early, always good to get it checked though.

Yep bang on, many years ago my brother could match my Sierra Cosworth in his 16v Astra on a drag race but once I got up to third gear it was bye bye Astra.

I am an ex Honda owner and the VTEC engines are a bit mad.

hit 4.5k revs and the cam pulls back to a high profile on the cam and there is no power loss all the way to the red-line but as mentioned when you get to speed the 1.6 lump looses it's grunt.

A 1.6 SiR (JDM import) Civic (or Del Sol, Mk3 CRX) uses the B16a lump (which is the twin cam and a reputation for being bullet proof) produces just shy of 170bhp with OEM set-up.

A friend had one of those, fettled with (headers, cams...etc) , but it was still slower than my Wifes stock NA Z.

 

If your Z wont wheelspin in the wet then you got serious issues!

Legrath i know thats why im gonna have to get Jeff look at it, and i know the hondas are quickys as ive had a few 2x vtis and one vtec new shape , but ive also had a few zeds and they would normally take off but this is lacking something this one!!

I was offered one of those honda del sol cars with an integra type r eingine in it for a swop with the z. turned it down tho.lol

I had a b16a del-sol early last year and embarresed a lot of higher powerd cars off the lights but about 80mph-ish they would catch back up and do the same to me lol

i raced a porshe 911 and he chickened out at 150mph then me car sputtered so laid off and he caught me up and went past!:cry:

Yep defo spin, even in the dry, and if its wet or damp they will spin on boost!

 

I used to own a 93 Civic VTI Import and it was shit hot, 5500rpm and the Variable timing kicked in, it was like having a little turbo but with an NA low end power, great fun.

 

And my lady drives a 2001 civic coupe 1.7 Vtech and that car is also very very potent. it drives as if its on edge all the time, every tiny touch of the light feeling pedal and it just goes.

 

However, none are a match for a zed working as it should.

i got out dragged by an audi a4 the other day complete with lexus lights lol it was rather wet thow and on an island,only other car to embarass me was a new 911 turbo which was rather fast around islands

I'd be a bit nervous 'dragging' round an island, assuming you're side by side that is, doesn't give a lot of room if you start going sideways.

Yes its an auto cackic, i really am not impressed after the last zed i had, the black manual tt i had was chipped, exhaust , induction and welding jets and it was outrageously quick, i worked at a car sales at the time and the owner used to take "quick cars" home to try to beat me, none managed ,lotus elise, kompressor mercs, etc, the one car that he was truly confident would win was a Bmw M coupe, he thought he'd got lucky but it was only cause i was struggling to get my power down in 2nd in the dry! i short shifted into 3rd and as its boost surged i shot past like a missile with a wave and a smile!! he was fuming, next day he was contemplating how much moneys worth of car it would take to see me off, well shortly after i left the firm we found out !, he was taking one of the salesguys out in a brand new lambo guillardo and i was about to drop someone off who worked next to him, when i saw who was driving it i just had to follow him, so i shot round the roundabout and got on his bumper, he was waving some kind of "this will beat you sign" as i followed him onto the slip onto the private air field and he set it away, jesus what a howl it made as it toook off but the black zed sat stuck to his ass, i managed to sit the same 2 car lenghts from about 20 right up to about 150, when i spoke to the guy who was in with him he said he was fuming that he still hadnt won in a 118k car!!! god i miss that zed, hope i can get similar poke out of this one !!! wow i just wrote an essay there lol
