Hi Buddies, Ive developed a quite loud whirring noise which seems to be coming from around the A/C Compressor. It doesn't change if A/C is on or off, but does go up and down in pitch with engine revs.Cant see anything else nearby that could cause it.I know its a long shot when you cant hear it yourselves, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Sounds a little bit like when we used

to put a bit of cardboard through pushbike spokes to sound like a motorbike.:D

Thanks Guys.

Oil change 500 ago. Have searched on here and seems it is most likely A/C belt tensioner pulley.I'll be really chuffed if thats all it is. Thanks for your help anyway.Cheers Maz. :duffer:

No worries :D Just rip the whole AC unit out! Never hot enough in this country anyways plus saves you 20kgs :D

if it sounds like what you describe then its possibly viscous van? I had a duff blade on mine which flexed too much and would skim along the wiring for the coolant temp sensor etc. Worth checking anyway.

There is a tensioner pulley for the aircon belt , my bearing went in this and it gave a metallic rattle / whirring noise , very easy to replace , drop the belt off and you can spin it by hand and feel whether the bearing,s pooped . HTH
