Agreed, the search function on this site is awful, cant seem to search for phrases like

"idle issue"

ive stopped using it as a result.

its only seems to match individual words like "idle" OR "issue".

You're using way too many variables. Type 'Starting fuel spark' and you'll get some results.

Use other terms like idle problem, erratic idle, idle fault or faulty idle. You'll get results, it's all about what terms other people use. Not really a fault with the DB. So simply searching one phrase for one thing won't give you the best results. Multi-search using different words that have similar means and you will.

I think the search function on this forum is pretty good TBH.

Im aware of that mate, it was just an example to try an explain the issue.

Im still amazed it cant exact match a search phrase, brings up lots of useless posts otherwise, which means you still have to trawl through them.

Just my 2 cents anyway, no biggie :hyper:

I only realised what you meant after reading what I wrote! LOL

What I've noticed is that the search on this forum doesn't have 'search exact phrases' or 'match exact phrases' option. I'm not sure if that's an option for the VB package. Have seen it on other sites.

I've kinda gotten used to it and I can always pull out the info I need, but that's just me.

You ought to be able to put exact phrases in quotes. But sometimes the search does get screwed and then the index needs to be rebuilt. As far as I know it's working ok at the moment.
