I don't know how many of you have heard of this unique and slightly eccentric rally for charity but from the things i have heard it sounds like it could be quite an experience.

More or less the only rule is that the car enguine must be of no more than 1litre. (this can be bent slightly, but is frowned upon, because of new rules for 09 due to mongolian enforced restrictions on age of donated cars.)

here is a link to the site for those of you who are interested. http://mongolrally.theadventurists.com/index.php?page=thevehicles

The point of this post being that over the next couple of years i plan to enter with 2 of my friends. This is a bit tricky as you have to carry evrything your self and with 3 in a car which will probably be the size of a shoe (because of enguine size) i am a little stumped on car choise. I have looked at a Susiki SJ as a candidate but they are hard to get your hands on, especialy in a condition to do 10,000miles. So any reccomendations would be hugely appreciated!!!

many thanks, Jamie.

haha, woop woop daewoo matiz!

thanks mate! the car only has to be have been manufactured within 10 years if you wish to donate it to charity at the end via the rally organisers and thus it stays in Mongolia. So it can be older but if it is i would have to either donate it privatly, take it home or sell it on the cheap on arrival.

Fancy this myself at some point, but with an Aus trip imminent it could be a couple of years away now. My mates also fancy the Plymouth - Dakar which is in a similar vein i think...car for less than £500 and you donate it the other end...

zairs: A mini was one of the first to cross my mind too because of all the things you mentioned. However it did cross my mind that with such small wheels it may not cope too well on the rought sections of the rally. still worth thinking about tough. many thanks all!
