hi

just wondering if you can help me i just brought a 300zx tt auto and when i start it it seems like is missfiring when i go to put into gear it seems to go in to a safe mode and it wont go over 2000rpm or 2500rpm cant remeber witch

any advise would be very very helpfull

Only one dump valve? that's crazy!

Be carefull cleaning the maf....... Dont put any liquid on it.

 

Not even sure if carb cleaner spray is a good idea. Does anyone know?

Well i used Contact Cleaner on mine, althought it was spotless already, didnt damage mine.

when i pull the wire off the maf senor and the engine cuts out does that mean its ok

yes your maf is fine, and you should have two dump valves which is no doubt the problem your getting.

 

Either get another fump valve with hard pipe and install it on the other side (expensive) or locate some standard recirc valves which are located under the maf either side of the electric fan (probably still installed) and reconnect them removing the dump valve on your car

the bloke i brought it off said it was running alright with the dump valve and then it started to play up

im not 100% sure but i think the wire on the first pic is for the outside temp

ah ok, first thing you need to sort out is that dump valve situation.

 

Can you get some pictures of the area either side of the electic fan underneath the maf

It looks to me like you standard recirc valves are still plugged in, so ill do a little search for some pics or a guide so you can make sure, then all you will need is a new hose to replace that hard pipe with your dump valve.
