Hi all,

Me again with my many Zed problems

Ive got round to taking my old TT prop off today:hyper:

But when I got my new prop out it was about an inch and half shorter.

Im hoping I havent recieved a short wheelbase version as i bought it months ago.

I have noticed that the end of my old prop is different as pic!

Do I need to take the end bit off and fit it to the new one or have I got apart missing.

Any help will be great and Happy new year!

Dan

Have you got a shot of the whole prop, each one side by side? I am not used to hese cars so cant comment, but that looks to be the wrong end??

theres nothing wrong there, thats as it should be. the ally spacer will bolt to the diff, then the yoke will bolt to the ally spacer. dont worry about the lengh difference. fit it up and i asure you it will fit as there is a certain amount of travel on the gearbox spline.

Cheers Mark :)

Do i need to take the brass end off the old 1 and fit it to my new 1? I have already tried but it wasnt the best of fit.

Ill try my best and get down to my workshop 2moz and get them measurments for you1

nope, the brass end stays with the old shaft. you will find that the ally spacer is a tight fit in the diff. its best to offer it as square as possible then nip each bolt up in turn keeping it square as you go. it should slide in nicely.

cheers for getting the measurments for me dude:)

(sorry to invade ya thread matey) But, what are the benefits of a one piece prop? Just curious..... :-)

Yep, thats fine. The SWB version is a lot shorter, 6inches.

They offer the same benefits as a Lightweight flywheel and crank pulley - Less rotational mass which equates to better reponse, quicker acceleration and more power to the rear wheels.

i want to do that at some point how much of a job is it? are there any how to's? :)

It was quite easy for me as the gearbox was already out from when i took the engine out.

I put the rear wheels on ramps so when I needed to undo the 8 or so prop bolts the wheels didnt spin.

Then i got a axle stand to hold up the prop straight as if it was connected to the box still.

When undoing the prop bolts you may need a little heat or shocking with a light tap with a hammer to make things abit easier.

The harder part i think will be refitting everything. Im not looking forward to that lol

Take off the section of exhaust thats in the way,, take off heat shield, undo 2 donut bearing bolts, undo the rear prop bolts that hold it onto diff by holding hand brake and undoing bolts, then release hand brake and spin it round to reach the other bolts then tighten and undo bolts and so on handbrake just stops the prop from turning while you crack off the bolts, then give prop a little tug and it should come straight off watch yourself coz its kinda heavy.

Oh yea i have no exhaust or brakes on mine at the mo lol Well hardley anything at all

Well then just throw the prop at the car and it will probably fit right in place :D
