Running Two Turbos through a single exit Exhaust ???

How technical are you experts in the house???

I am thinking of running two downpies from my Turbos into a single pipe and then running that along through the car to exit at the rear.

I am wondering how it would effect the Turbos, if at all, with one down pipe being much longer than the other and going over the bellhousing and meeting the second down pipe on the other side.

Can anyone see any issues with back pressures from the Turbos if these pipes meet closer to one Turbo than the other?? That is, would the higher pressure from the shorted length pipe blow back up into the longer pipe??

Does that make sense at all ???

Cheers

dave...

Oh, stock turbo is T25, so you will need T2 style turbo flange (assuming you're keeping stock manifolds).

You might need to lag that pipe behind the heads as there are a couple of hoses round the back, turbo coolant etc that are going to cook with the heat from there.

Dunk, I was hoping to be getting over 400 with the standard turbos to be honest. Perhaps the elusive 500 is just a pipe dream, and beer talk. It could actually prove to be the cars downfall if it has too much power? No point just sitting there with the wheels spinning! The Red Anglia has just over 240 hp and thats plenty. Its a handful as it is!!

Would a T3 turbo easily bolt up then?? These are ten a penny to get hold of.

Willie, I will be lagging all the pipes mate. Not sure that over the box way is the best route to follow. Possibly a lot of fabrication for nowt? Simple side exit pipes may be the future??

Wanna see some mad exhausts from an old project of mine...? Giz a mo...

No mate, its just my hobby. I have worked hard all my life and its what I do for fun. Well, that and drink beer of course! I also used to buy project cars, spend time and money on them and sell on for profit to fund the next car. My only problem is I get attached to some of them... doh!

Which Mk2 Cossie did you mean? I have had three of them. Sold the Yellow and Oramge ones now though. But still have my long serving money pit!

As you can see, my current Mk2 is still to finish, but its getting there. In no particular order of build...

Yep, sorry. I am just showing off now... I will get my coat...

If it helps I have 2 sections of 3 inch bore merged into 4 inch to one can which is 2.5 inches straight through. The 4 inch bore pipes were from Eminox and were actually for a a Volvo FL6 truck. As for what you are doing thatsa different kettle of fish. Mine has a deep drone which is loud on full pelt but not Corsa 1-litre loud, to me sounds like a racing car lol.

Yes mate thats the sort of idea I was having. Like the four into one set up on a motorbike (yep, into them as well), or where a N/A manifold merges into one pipe. Exactly that. So if it works for you I shoul dbe fine, which ever way I end up going. Sorted!

How does one of these V6 lumps sound on full rumble by the way? I bet its nice! I am lucky enough to have a neighbour that likes loud cars, bless her!!

Im not really a ford fan, nothing newer than 1980, but I have a soft spot for the Mk1/Mk2 Escort and other classic fords and that just looks incredible.
