I changed my plugs today and found that my TT has been using plugs that are for the NA.

The only differance in the number is that the turbo plug has a 'C' on the end. Anyone know what that means.

Probably means they're platinum tipped mate

A - B or C means how DEEP the electrode will go into the combustion chamber.

The CORRECT plug for the TT is the PFR-6B-11B

AND NOTHING ELSE !!!

Oooh dear Paul, how much did your plugs cost??? ;)

Paul,

PFR-6B-11C is the correct plug for the UK. I have called NGK UK up on this. PFR-6B-11B 's are not available in the UK. They said that the C's are slightly (shorter I think) to comply with our emission laws. I just ordered the B's from the US instead.

What is the exact number because I doubt its for an NA if it has a C on the end?

The new plugs i fitted are PFR-6B-11C which is the correct plug in the workshop manual for the TT.

The old plugs i took out were PFR-6B-11 which is for the NA according to the manual.

Someone has bought the wrong ones at some point but its sorted now. I dont know if the car runs better with the proper plugs yet but I will soon find out when the roads dry out.

Correct

to comply with our emission laws.

That's something new to me.....how do they explain that ??!!??

I DID check emission with both plugs B/C...as soon as the engine has reached operational temp....it makes NO measureable difference

Zee you

They feeded me the same BS about the PFR7 not being available....interestingly....if you tell them the NISSAN ID Number....they'll have it available for you.....don't tell them what this is.

Plugs, by coincidence I was in (halfords)last week, ok - ok and asked for a set for the Z. Not knowing how old mine are, reply £102.00 for 6, my god, thats the price of my new bonnet nose, £17 each do I live in stich up county or is this right?

Bob, I know what your going to say.

How much should I or do any of you pay for a set.

I only went in for some polish for the meet!

easy answer, get on to the US suppliers, last set i got worked out about £4.00 each i think, why not sort a GB and get a shed load sent over, could be a saving to be had.

Hi,

Luke at The Z Centre.co.uk is selling the PFR6B-11C plugs for £30 for the set inc. p&p.

I recently paid £48 for my NA plugs, from a local motor factor...still cheaper than the £14 each I was previously quoted!

JEZ

i ran the wrong set and it cost me 3000 quid, so im still confused as to which ones to run.

i paid 50 quid in south africa for them, direct from ngk. (and i was at the factory where they make them. All plugs for japan are made in south africa)is that funny or what

There are quite a few previous posts.

A word of warning, my import TT had alot of trouble and it came down to needing a different spec plug to the UK models.

The previously fitted plug, and those I managed to eventually get has a shorter shroud than the UK spec plug.

I have some information at home, and e-mail me if you want more information and I will try and dig it out over the weekend. Geoff

Henri, just saying what NGK said. Could be BS for all I know? Maybe the emissions on warmup is the problem?

I have also heard that US Nissan commissioned NGK to provide a modified plug to help prevent detonation hence the 11B and longer shroud.

Courtesy charge $7.50 each.

Andy

The UK Z's should stay with the PFR-6B-11c plugs as specified in the workshop manual. As Anders says...these plugs are designed to suit UK emissions on cold start/warmup.

Japanese import cars should run the PFR-6B-11B plugs as supplied in the U.S.

I have a spare set of PFR-6B-11c plugs which suits any UK models. Only covered 2k miles and are good for another 58k miles.

Email if interested!

You wanna keep using an incorrect plug like the pfr-6b-11c....great...no problem, it's your car, and your money.

I only hope that you're already saving for your **new** engine

The UK spec Z's come left the factory with the 11c plugs fitted! Can the UK workshop manual really be so wrong?

There are several differences with UK Z'a just like the larger radiators and oil coolers.

Maybe it has something to do with our poor quality gas aswell but the PFR6B-11c would be supplied and fitted by UK Nissan dealers at service interals.

I myself use PRF6B-11B so I don't care ;-)

Henri

Also, although it's unlikely... how do you know that the UK heads are not machine differently?

We already know that the power outputs differ from the U.S / UK models so there could be some internal modifications??

Keep up the good work ;-)

Steve

pfr 6-11 b/c was what i was told by the people who make the plugs, for nissan japan, so ha

Henri, I agree with Steve. 11B's are definitely not available to the UK market, only the 11C's. Nissan UK are not going to provide the wrong plugs to their cars and just hope they don't blow up!

Andy

what is the correct gap setting for the 11c plugs out of the box they are .25 thou

the zcenter are selling real nissan ones for the tt and they have a C on the end of the number so i presume they are the correct ones

The gaps on the plugs are pre-set...so you don't have to mangle those nice platinum tips with a feeler gauge!
