Noticed while looking at Zeds that some have single exit and others have twin, was wondering if it was purely aesthetically, or is there a reason?

 

For me twin's look much nicer, fit the profile of the car etc (whereas for eg a supra would look silly with twin exit pipes, and I dont think Ive ever come across one), is there a practical reason people choose to get rid of twins and stick a single exit pipe on?? :hyper:

My first TT had a single exit and every other has had twin. IMHO a single can look ok, but only if the bumper has been modified so that it looks like it belongs. Otherwise it does'nt quite look right, it looks obvious that something is missing.

IMHO, unless you have the supporting body mods, the single exit exhaust looks wrong. Like the car is missing a can.

 

Also, I personally do not see the appeal of a single exhaust over a twin. The twin exhaust makes the most of the nice V6 burble. The Single exhaust looses that.

 

Some people rave about the sound of single exhaust, but it's never been something I'd ever bother with.

 

Pretty much all good sports cars come with twin exhaust systems, it just doesn't look right for such a wide performance car. A-symmetry doesn't work on the Z32.

 

Supras have a single can because they are a straight-6. It's engineering sence to have a single exhaust, whereas 300ZX engine is a V6, has 2 heads, 2 turbos, 2 manifolds and 2 downpips. Why joint them together.

Twin Exausts look much better. Singles just dont look right on a Zed.

i agree if the car has the correct bumper then it looks fine but if it has a standard rear bumper and a single exit zorst then the car looks unbalanced and with the zed beging about 10ft wide thats a easy look to have so i would go for a twin unless you have or are getting a aftermarket bumper that suits a single exit ... :duffer:

I prefer the look of the twin/double twin exit exhaust but i have yet to come across anything that sounds as good as the single exit hks super dragger at boost. Awesome :bow:

as said i prefer a twin set up much more than single for a Z , but suppose its just personal pref , im standard in the exhaust field at the min! , but do plan to get a long life sys made up some point early 09 , but keeping the 4 tale pipes as original just a little wider! :hyper:

I have a single exit at the mo its a kakimoto one sounds nice but i know where you are coming from as far as it does look like something is missing if you have not got an after market rear so might be selling mine soon and getting a twin back on.

Got to agree for everyday driving too loud, but love the sound when you put your foot down. You will have to take me for a spin sometime if im down that way lol.

Has to be the twin/quad exhaust. ABflug is by far the best system ;)

When i got my zed she had a single jap exhaust and when you looked at her behind it looked as if the other exhaust had fallen off :rofl: so i had a twin exit cat back system made up by longlife with twin tail pipes, now it looks and sounds awesome:D
