how much power will i get by upgrading to 440cc injectors?

Featured Replies

Its more worth fitting 555cc no alot more £££

Power difference will depend on boost pressure and cooling. Stock injectors are on there max at about 14-15 psi any higher and you run the risk of leaning out and causing damage to engine.

With 555cc you have much more flow than your stock turbos can handle. So maybe running a little more than 14 psi will be ok, anymore and your turbos will just be super heating the air and will run less efficently, so make sure your cooling is good for 15 maybe 16 psi any more than that and you will just be loosing power than gaining really.

Power upgrades only work in packages and in unison with each other.

440 injectors will require a change of chip suited to the injector size otherwise overfueling wil occur.

1)So lets assume you now have the chip changed and the injectors fitted, now to make "extra" power you need to raise the boost as the injectors and chip will not add power on their own.

2)So lets assume you now have the chip + injectors + boost controller or boost jets, you now have the makings of extra power up to 1 bar provided the engine is set up proffessionally.

So typically you have spent on injectors(£400) + fitting (£200)+ chip(£150) + boost controller ( £250)+ fitting (£90) or boost jets (£1) so that will work out a fair packet especially considering to get more power after this will mean bigger turbo`s and to change the injectors and the chip again.

Most injector swaps start at 555`s as it is a more flexible upgrade and means bigger turbo`s later will not need injector swap again.

For a no nonsense power upgrade provided you have a good sound engine go for a straight chip and boost upgrade which will allow you to run up to 14 psi max and give you a huge power hike for the cost ( approx £220 ) but ensure it is done proffessionally which not only gives you the best results but also affords a level of warranty.

:hyper:

thanks Jeff

ok,i am learning step by step

basicaly,i already fitted the stage 3 chip, free airflow, decat downpipes, xtr cerametallic clutch, light flywheel, fuel preasure regulator, and manual boost conroller, the car is much faster than before, and i want to use it for drag racing on weekends,,,so its not for every day use,,,i setted the boost at 1 bar at present, but been able to do the 1.6 bar for a try,,,so thats why thinking to upgrade the injectors,as there is still some thing to take from this motor with out upgrading the turbos,,,so thats why wanted to know what sort of horse power will i get in refund by apgrading to 440cc injectors,,as may be its not worth it...?..by the way i am doing all the mods my self, apart from clutch,my mate done it for me....so changing the injectors would be intresting lesson:hyper:

1.6 bar on stock tubs is not likely. Even if they did reach 1.6 they wouldnt last long and on stock injectors either would the engine, im suprised it didnt blow already, Like stated above, you cant run more than 16psi efficeintly on stock turbos and you cant run safely above 14-15 on stock injectors so upgrading the injectors would be a good first step but you will need a new chip with them. You wont need to increase fuel pressure either for that setup.

I think you should buy a set of 555's and run 14-15psi on good fuel and maybe some better IC's

Until you upgrade your turbos you cant see more than above.

i only wanted to see what the turbos could do max,,,it was only a short try out:smash:...

its setted to 1 bar now....:hyper:

i already fitted the stage 3 chip

Can someone shed some light into what a stage 3 chip is?

:confused::confused:

Hate to say this, but 'stage' is a term generally used by people who don't really know what kind of power their car is making so say 'it's a stage 3 or 4. or whatever.

It's not a true reference to any real power figure.

Stillen made their own stage chart. SGP made their own stage chart.

Many others have their own version, and some individuals just use their own judgement.

The entire thing works in the sense that one valid stage chart would help when comparing two vehicles. However, with so many published versions and other improvisational versions. There is no use for them unless someone knows to which chart you are referring.

Rolling road figures is where it's at! Ignore the stage system. It's unreliable. So many variables and most of them are just down to someone stating their car is a Stage 4 or whatever.

i am still learning

It's all good. Quite a few people try and use the stage system. I was pointing out generally that this shouldn't be relied on as it means not a lot. :)
