Yeh thanks i tried that but it only goes back a month or two:confused:

Do you have a copy of Xp? If so might be an idea to format and reinstall. Guess it just depends on how much stuff you've put on since you've had it.

HI vijay it has a seperate hard drive where it stores all the running gear so to speake.

So there are no disks:confused:

Steve

'de-frag' in hard drive properties should be done once a month but no one does it moves files into an orderly fashion and prolongs its life as well as sorting the registry and all sortsa other shite

if it has one smaller drive for the windows files etc and then a larger one as a secondary drive then you will need a xp disk to restart from fresh

(defragmenting the drive will move the files in to there correct order so they can be found quicker)

you could try formatting the secondary drive through windows?

have you checked the sizes ?

i think on compaqs if you keep tapping F11 as soon as you turn it on is should boot into the recovery menu and you want destructive type recovery this will clear all data and reinstall the OS
