Have just been offered a H reg uk TT, 1 owner from new with 46,000 miles on clock but it has sat in a dry garage for over 6 years, is the engine likely to be ok or should i be a bit wary. Its a manual

get it running and and changr thr oils amd give it a 60k service just down to time rather than mileage.

check the seals and rear wings for rust !

but yeah its not all bad that its been sat inside for 6 years !

It must actually run as the blokes bringing it to work with him tomorrow, my plan is to swap interiors with my cloth one and sell it on

if its been dry stored and runs well with that mileage you might be better off keeping that one

thats what i thought! lol - 500.00 bargain

Have spent a fortune on my own which only has 60,000 on clock so would be surplus to requirements. Would like to put manual box in mine but it then reduces it to a non runner and ive got no were to do the work

so just have the manual one and sell yours !

which is newer ?

Mine is older but have just put veilside c2 on it and full respray:mad:

I'm not sure I'd swap the interiors over...... the UK Z will have seatbelts on the B pillars, the Series 1 JDM car will have seatbelts on the doors.

It will be a dead giveaway that something is not quite right with the UK Z if you swap it over IMO.

:) :duffer:

I will have 1st DIBS! on the leather interior if you are taking it out the car mate.lol. I have mint cloth interior so a swop could be doen or somethings

Although it sounds an absolute bargain I would still be wary of buying it (all IMHO of course).

As with most cars, they all benefit from being driven regularly, even if it is only a short distance. It maintains lubrication to all the vital parts and prevents things from degrading and falling apart (ie, mice eating away at rubber pipes or electrical wiring, etc).

I have recently seen a writeup of a car (non-Z32) that had been stood in a garage for 5 years. There was rust, seized brake calipers, rusted brake discs, all sorts of leaking fuel/oil/air lines & hoses, leaking seals, seized transmission, electrical problems, etc, etc.

I understand that the seller is driving it in for you to see but I would go over the car with a fine tooth comb (incl. compression and leakdown test) before agreeing to buy it. £500 may seem little money but if you then subsequently have to spend £3k to get things back to standard operation again it will seem a waste of money.

Good luck with viewing the car - I do wish you the best. The above may seem like "scare mongering" but it is best to start off with a pessimistic and overly critical view. It tempers the expectations and you won't be too disappointed if you decide to walk away.

All the best,

Dan

Just buy the damn thing and worry about it later.

Anyway, why not have 2 cars? With the price of them lately anyone car afford 2 zeds :D

I couldn't bear to see some chav rip up the road with either of mine after paying me £1500 or whatever they're worth at the moment...... :(:nono::mad::cry:

one of the worst cars ive ever bought was a 4 year dry stored jaguar xj6 with under 40,000 miles under its belt..bodywork it was brand new including the leather interior but thats where it stopped, allmost every rubber pipe including the p/s had perished, the fuel system had to be completly flushed out,the tires had developed flat spots, the calipers had seized including the rear inboard ones (really big job to get to) and after freeing them the 2 fronts started leaking, thermostate had to be replaced, all fan belts had cracks in them and had to be re-newed, and to top it all off i could never get rid of a foul smell from the air con no matter what i did so at the end of the day i had bought a right lemon which i thought with it being in a garage for 4 years would of been a minter:mad:

Worst case scenario - it needs som work then you break it and get your money back and you have a manual box for your other car!

if this is Uk spec and the seatbelts are on the pillars i might be interested in it as a shell when you've had your interior...What colour is it and is it Uk or JDM?

As far as i know its UK as he says has been owned from new, its black.

Will prob just take out interior and sell it on all being well, even if just as a breaker
