Anyone here got an IPod shuffle? Mine works, ie, when plugged into a computer, but the minute you try and play anything through the headphones, it switches off and refuses to play.

I've checked online and ran the Reset tool that Apple have on their site, but it's made no difference.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

Well, I've not used it for a year and I didn't use it much previously. I've had it plugged into the laptop for while. But, with the suffle, there's no screen, so you can't tell if the battery is charged or holding charge.

Poo. :( Means a new one. Not worth bothering trying to repair an IPod shuffle.

I've repaired a few iPods, but not the Shuffle. It does sound like the battery tbh. Sometimes the batteries can be the same as ones in other devices. I would open it up, measure the voltage after a long charge, then take it from there. It doesn't sound like the cable, but it might also be worth a shot just in case.

Have you tried it with a different set of earplugs?

May be a fault in them that is shutting the player down, kinda like a circuit breaker?

Just asking out of curiosity, seems logical that there would be some sort of built in protection to cover damaged headphones.

Good suggestion, because I have one and I know it turns itself off as soon as you unplug the headphones.

OK - So I just tried mine, and when I unplug the earphones, it pauses. When I plug them back in, I need to press the play button to get it going again, but it never turns off - the light just flashes green.

Looks like that theory is a dud. Unless it is faulty plugs, it looks like the battery option is the most likely.......

I see - maybe it's just down to how long you wait and it turns itself off/standby after a while. It's probably in the instructions, but I have never read them (obviously!).

I did try another set of earplugs. I have found out what the issue was. Was syncronised properly. I bought another one, had the same problem with that! I've not used Itunes for ages and buggered it up. ITunes isn't that easy to use.

Oh well, they are only £30. lol

Yeah - I haven't used mine in months, and after this thread started, thought I would load it up.

Got the i-tunes update, and promptly spent the next hour trying to connect mine.

I suck with technology.
