Hey peeps, this is really starting to annoy me now, so any help would be well appreciated :-)

Firstly, once warmed up, the idle is a bit slow, and can stall when not using the throttle (it's an auto) I found a couple of dodgy pipes, replaced them, it was ok for a bit, and now it's doing it again, idles fast slow fast slow, etc. Could the TPS be a factor? I have tried adjusting it, but it's either the same, or 500 rpm faster, within half a millimeter of movement, that is it, is that right?

And also, I have relocated the dett sensor, if i leave the battery off over night, then start her for a few minutes, then do a diagnostic, it will come up with 34, but if i do a diagnostic a few seconds later, it's 55, and will be till i disconnect the battery, then 34 again, then 55, any thoughts on this???

Thanks guys....

1st try replacing the temp sensor, ecu one or even clean the terminals might help

2nd did you change the dett sensor for a new one and where did you recolate to?? iff old and faulty they can pick up other mechanical background noise and think the motor is detting...also with the dett sensor it goes back to code 55 every fresh engine start untill it picks up what it thinks is dett so disconecting the batt is not needed infact it could be making matters worse as you keep putting the ecu into self learn

Right, thanks, yeah it was a new dett sensor, and relocated it to the top of the plenum, in the usual place (the right hand one of two bolts in the middle)... That's interesting then, I'll keep the battery on, perhaps a fault on the loom? Although I thought that, so cut back into it as far as sensibly possible, and fitted a new plug n leads to it... I think the water temp sensor is ok, have cleaned the contacts, but will definately go over it again....

Where is the idle speed adjuster? Cheers....

What also doesn't help is that the stock (all be it inaccurate) boost gauge isn't working, i have a gauge i bought but can't find it anywhere! It would be nice to know the bosst, perhaps determine it's in safety mode, or a boost leak maybe....

iff your getting 34 then you can be sure your getting "safe boost"

Guess so, never driven one before, so no comparision, but it's still rapid compared to my fiat punto, haha :-) Could it be dettonating? It certainly runs as sweet as a nut when not ticking over, I've done a full rebuild, and still needs to be run in, or perhaps the sensor itself is faulty, i know relocating the dett sensor isn't ideal, but during my massive zed learning curve, i failed to clock on to replacing the sensor with the engine out :-( Starting to get a little frustrated now, can't quite suss it out, if something breaks, i'll take it off, fix/replace and put it back on, not knowing what it is/trial and error isn't my preferred tactic really!!! :-) :-) (still love the zed to bits tho) :-)

take off the dett sensor plug and put a 1meg ohme resistor on the ecu side and that should stop you getting 34 for now:)

Thanks mate, i have read that, and tried it, all be it a bit ago, before I replaced the sensor, and exactly the same, which I guess points to the loom, i think???

If I can't get to the bottom of it, I'll take the wires to the sensor direstly from the ECU itslef, straight to the sensor, (until I can afford a new loom) if that doesn't sort it, then I'm stumped......
