would the turbos off an auto fit and work properly with a manual? i know its probably not ideal, but its only as a temporary solution while my engine and turbs are rebuilt and until of course money permits!

any help would be appreciated! thanks

Yes they fit and work fine. In theory the car will spool up quicker, but wont make as much peak power...but the difference is only small.

ok thats excellent. means i can have my car useable again until money permits my rebuild and proper turbos (if i ever get round to it! lol)

thanks for the help mate, grateful 2 ya!

i had a manual conversion and didnt notice any difference between spool up or peak power, although for obvious reasons the car was a different drive altogether. ive since had them rebuilt to manual spec

are the turbos on a manual different from auto's then? I thought they were the same.

autos have marginally smaller turbos for better spool up time.

Great  didn't know that! Is there anyway to tell which you've got? My zed's an auto but it's got a recon jap engine in it as the original blew.

i dont think so, without taking them off and opening them up, but realistically there's so little difference between auto and manwell turbos that its not worth it!

I was told by Pete at SE Nissan that he saw quite a number of cars with the 'wrong' turbos on them, so I guess it depends on what they had available on the day of manufacture.
