Over the last few months, my laptop has almost ground to a halt. Takes ages to refresh and loads pages on the browser and general applications seem slow and the browser keeps hanging.

It is/was a fast laptop. It's running Windows Vista.

What can I do to remove unwanted processes? I don't know what half of them do.

Not entirely sure what's going on. CPU useage is pretty high. I've deleted all history/cookie files.

Any ideas on what I can do?

he wont do that..it will expose his secrets on the interweb plus it could be a disturbing experience for you and have lasting effects in the form of nightmares and a liking for w@nking dogs and toilets:rofl::rofl::x:

some basic things are see what it's running at start up ,a disk clean up, and also defragmenting the hard disk may make it a little less slower

what antivirus are you using ?, i generally find pc's to run slow when they are infected

my server can run slow ie: loading internet ,

but never the pc it self ie: program response

I suppose not,

but i' always do it every so often though ! but with the amount of data iv'e got stored in avi ,mp3 files etc i dont even bother with windows defrag.

always found Puran Defrag to be far better ideal for me as it has Low Priority Defrag and that allows you to use your computer at its full even when defragmentation is running.:hyper:

Sorry, haven't used windows at home in a while  and didn't realise you still had to defrag. Is defragging still a feature in Vista as well then?
