I PUT ON THE TECHNICAL FORUM YESTERDAY BOUT A MISFIRE IN THE ZED, WELL MISFIRE NO MORE

COS COMING HOME 2DAY OVERTACKING A BABE IN A CAR, BANG, LOADS OF SMOKE TONS OF IT OUT THE EXHAUST AND I THINK ITS A PISTON RING AS IT BLEW OUT THE DIPSTICK AND THERE IS A NASTY NOISE FROM THE DIPSTICK PIPE!!!

 

NOW I DO LOVE MY ZED COS NOTHING ELSE COMES CLOSE TO IT!!

 

BUT WHAT TO DO COS IM BUYING A HOUSE AT THE MO AND THE MORTGAGE MAKES ME S~IT MYSELF ADD THIS TO THE COST OF A RE-BORE, LUCKILY I HAV'NT AN EXPENSIVE GIRLFRIEND, SO IM GOING TO B WITHOUT MY Z FOR A WHILE AND DRIVE ABOUT IN MY BROTHERS MINI,

 

RIGHT IM OFF DOWN THE PUB FOR A MASSIVE SESSION COS ITS PROBABLY THE LAST I WILL EVER HAVE AFTER I PAY ALL OF THIS OFF!!

Is your car under warranty from Brookside bud?

 

All that work on your turbos etc. should be guaranteed for 12 months or 12K miles I would have thought!

Shit, I thought it was you Last night that I saw! Smoke coming out of both barrels. Damn, that's pretty unlucky. One thing though, if a piston ring had gone, surely smoke would be coming out of only one exhaust pipe? (I think!)

Saying that, it's a bit coincidental that it was misfiring just before it went pop.

 

If you want, I could have a look at it for you.

Thats not good

 

Sounds like you now know what the ticking was - the dreaded detonation Sounds like a piston has holed itself - get a compression test done.

 

If I can be of any help let me know

I've got a compression tester

hia shaun bud i did a compression test and the cylinder is full of oil and the plenium chamber both sides is full of oil!!!

 

pressure on the test was 50psi and when i run it without a plug the oil splashes out!!

 

i was having detionation at 6000rpm 13psi and i changed 2 optimax no detanation up to 7000 rpm

can u see a holed piston by looking through the plug hole??

Yes you can. See if you can borrow an endoscope from anyone. Needs to be 12" long though to get down to the combustion chamber.
