Still umming and arring about EBCs. I'd still like a small Old-skool boost controller, but found out that A'pexi manufacture the AVCR in black. Just wondering, can someome measure the dimensions of it?

Just want to see how big it is and whether I can fit it somewhere descretely in a recess.

I dont know the dimensions SI, but I do know that its slightly larger than DIN height and 3/4 DIN width. Its the biggest EBC available I believe.

Nothing discreet about one of those babies, if your after discreet go for the profec b spec 2 like you originally wanted, or are you going to be using all the avcr functions?

I'm not really after multiple functions. All I require is boost adjustment and pressure reading.

Hey Si, don't have the Zed to hand, but this Pic will give yer an idea on how it fits in the lower opening and size etc.

looks niceee

Ive got mine mounted on top the the right hand pod, dont think it looks out of place there and is also easy to get too!

Having it mounted anywhere on the dash is out of place IMHO.

but there need to be with in easy reach to alter, specialy this one as it has lots built in

Exactly and there lays the problem. The Z dash is a nice smooth curvy dash. Having stuff bolted all over it makes it look a mess. It's why I want to go for something like this....

That wont tell you how fast you are going, what the boost is. ect!!

You have a speedo to tell you how fast you're going. Most boost controllers will also tell you what boost you're getting, even the small ones.

my speedo is a bit lazy, its ok getting to a speed but if you slow down it takes ages to drop and then if you speed up again it gets really confused.

....also, the one in the photo is ACTUALLY a turbo timer (reads: waste of cash). I just used it as an illustration of where I could site a ProfecB or similar.

I've never had that problem. Can't think of too many others who've had that either.

I wish the ProfecB didn't have chrome nobs and blue screen.

I know they are old, but I prefer the old-skool EBCs. Much more descrete. I could modify the backing of this and have it sitting flush on the dash bezel (same position as the previous photo I posted)

I'll get round to buying a uk spec one soon. hopefully that will sort it out.

Think you would Preferre the profec B, I know you have had your eye on it for a while. Plus it would look good there!:)

This is what I want to do. I want to take the cover off (this is an HKS EVC 4), cut along the red dotted line. Refit what's left (the small section), cut a hole in the dash bezel that's smaller than that of the EBC and just slide it in. Nice and flush fitting. :)

Sounds like you have made your mind up, I had this one installed a little while back just to give you another example.

Thanks,

Ant

That's quite neat. Unfortunately I have a 2DIN headunit.

One thing I'd look at manufacturing if I had the capability is a DIN sized boost controller/AFM Management/LCD readout computer. Most cars that people put these electronics in are Japanese. Most Japanese cars come with twin DIN or 2DIN slots for Audio. It would be idea to make a single DIN system that's the same size as a conventional single din headunit that could control all these functions instead of having a multitude of stuff all over the place.

If I could get the investment, I'd love to look at doing some R&D/Prototyping for something like that.

Hey Si

I had the same dilemma whne getting a boost controller etc and I opted for a black profec B and the matching turbo timer. The blue actually goes very well with the clock and so did not look out of place. I'll take some pics and post them up for you. As you know I've been trying to keep mine looking as standard as poss so have been trying to hide things like these.

I know you have a twin din but the boost controller can be made to fit in the hole where the clock lives or as in your previous pic mounted under the ABS warning lights etc.
