The next mods i want to do to my car is upgrade the fornt brakes, as they are dire :slap:

I was looking at the 345mm upgrade that someone on here was doing, and was thinking bout doing it myself.

Does anyone know what discs to use ?

And does anyone have an engineers drawing, or measurements of the brackets, so i can make them up :)

cheers

Are you keeping standad calipers or upgrading those as well ?

just keeping the standard calipers for now, if i decide to go for alot more power il be changing those to something more substantial :D

There are a few guys on here that have made up brackets when keeping standard calipers.

If you do a search I'm sure you will find the info you need.

Hi mate have you considered th ksports kits. I can confirm that they are very good. Mine are just starting to bed in and the difference is amazing!

Does the kit affect your abs set up? wnad what size disks does it use?

hi mate i have 8 pots 350mm up front and six pot 330mm rear. I think if you only do the fronts it can effect your abs.

If you're keeping the original calipers I wouldn't go any larger than 324mm discs because you'll risk the contact patch becoming too small. Although you've got the benifit of centrifugal force (ie, the caliper mounted further away from the centre of rotation which will increase braking performance) you run the risk of locally overheating the disc which will cause cracks/warping. I've got a number of caliper relocation brackets in stock which are meant to go with 324mm discs. I can get you a set of DBA 324mm discs no problem.

Take a look at http://www.smithys-place.co.uk/brakes.php for information on the various discs I can supply as well as pricing info on the KSport big brake kits.

danny do you do dba 4000 discs (r33/34 calipers) for the rear?

Dan thanks, but no thanks. I intend on making the kit up myself, i do have plans for a huge brake upgrade actually.

From an aston martin DB9 to be precise, 360mm 4 pot :hyper:

Im just looking for something to tide me over for a year :smash:

Check out the thread on "ABS with bigger brakes". Its a couple of pages back (sorry that I don't know how to link it into this). JeffTT put in a very good article about the Zed's ABS operating with different braking systems, so it might be useful to have a look at it.

dont know if thats ythe ones then, as the ones i was looking for didnt need a spigot ring, they had the correct centre bore

Think im gonna use the 324mm GTR discs and make a relocating bracket up, just need to try and dig out my verniers :headvswal

Just need to know the thickness of the hub mounting lug, anyone know it ?:hyper:

show off... btw... can i kiss you?

.........and definitely...........................not, a pint will do instead:duffer:

Nice, how much does a kit like that set you back? Do they work well

I got the discs/calipers/pads/braided lines/brackets/spigot rings and fitting all for the princely sum of around £750 and yes they work very nicely:D and look pretty good as well:)

Get in touch with Rice Rocket in the traders section, or go on his web site. He is doing some great deals on brakes discs etc., and the rears that I have bought are very good quality, and value. Excellent service too.:)

im upgrading to clio 1.2 expression brakes, our lass has one and even at 80+ mph it would out brake the zed lol

That'll be because the Clio weighs a lot less than a Zed ... That being the case I'm not convinced using the Clio brakes would be a good idea. You need to source brakes that come off a similarly weighted car and go one or two steps bigger.

IMHO the KSport 356mm 6-pot kit (with Ferodo DS2500 pads) represents best value for money at the moment. You'll need 19" wheels otherwise opt for the 330mm 6-pot kit.

but won't that mess up the ABS? would you have to upgrade the rears at the same time?
