whats the best suspension setup to go for? ive noticed that my zed is like driving a barge! n i hate it, always hard stiff cars, basically i dont want to lower her i just wanna stiffen her up.

therefore is a street kit better or coilovers better? and at the same time what would be benificial in replacing along the lines of bushes? balljoints? etc......

all help is much appreciated guys! once the new year comes in ill be paying a subscription too!

Budget will depend on how far you want to go. You could go stock for stock or you could go fully adjustable. Budget for about £1k in parts for a halfway house.

and you could always replace all bushes with poly bushes but that gives a very firm ride

KYB and Eibach springs seem to be the favoured set up for slightly lowered near stock. Otherwise its Tein, Ksports and the usual aftermarket companies.

I have K sports with 8's up front and 6's at the back and am very happy with them they middle of the road price wise compared with the KYB/ Eibachs at one end and Tiens at the other.

Or if you want to keep the stock ride height. then go for some stiffer anti roll bars and a front and rear strut brace. You can get these from Dan DTA in the traders section

KYB shocks and Eibach springs are very good.

ps I have a set for sale;)

how much u lookin for them bud?

£300 the lot They are in as new contition with only 500 miles on them. I've bought them from Concept Z this summer. Still have the receipt.

Thought I'd chime in here ... ;)

As per Car.Mad's post - stiffer anti-roll bars and new strut braces will do more for making the car corner flatter than a new set of struts and springs. I've got a car that's on stock suspension but has Stillen anti-roll bars and Carbing front/rear strut braces. The difference in cornering is significant! Enough for me not to have to buy new shocks and springs.

Here is a breakdown of prices you can expect for all sorts of suspension upgrades (available through our good selves ;)):

Stage 1:

KYB-AGX Adjustable Shocks: £420.00

Eibach Lowering Springs (-25mm & 25% stiffer): £190.00

AVO Lowering Springs (-30m & 25% stiffer): £125.00

DTA Sport Springs (stock height & 15% stiffer): £180.00

Stage 2:

K-Sport Coilover Kit: £850.00

TEIN Mono-Flex Coilover Kit: £1,385.00

Stillen Adjustable Anti-roll Bar Kit (front/rear): £435.00

Carbing Strut Brace Kit (front/rear): £530.00

Powertrix Adjustable Camber Arms (front): £230.00

Powertrix Adjustabel Camber Arms (rear): £160.00

Powertrix Adjustable Tension Rods: £135.00

Additional Parts to think about upgrading at either of the above stages:

Energy Suspension Polyurethane Bushings Kit: from £180.00 - depending on bushes required

Energy Suspension Polyurethane Differential Carrier Bushings: £28.00

Energy Suspension Polyurethane Subframe Bushings: £105.00

SZ Solid Differential Collars (retain stock bushings): £65.00

These are just suggestions and setups can be tailor made to suit your specific needs. All prices listed are correct as at 05DEC08 and do NOT include P+P.

If you require any further advise please feel free to contact me.

Regards,

Dan

if you can hold them until i raise some cash mate ill have them off ya! its just the shocks yeh? will they fit a japp tt or is the supension the same on all models?

hi mate good choice id look at your roll bars too. Also if you do im lower you will need adjustable camber arms or your tires will wear unevenly

As Danny said, anti-roll bars make a big difference. Changing the shocks make a difference too, but you don't have to replace the springs unless yours are shot (unlikely) or unless you specifically want it lowered.

I have the stiffer anti-roll bars and Tokico shocks - makes a big difference.

With coilovers being so stiff the need for stiffer antiroll bars is not so important unless you wanna be able to fine tune over/understeer. Take the spl track car for example, its running on stock arb. bare in mind your rear is a uk spec as jap is a bit too thin. The coilovers will stop alot of roll.

I've only got tien coilovers on mine stock everything else and it handles completley different to my white stock zed. both jdm and the much less roll even it being at their softest setting
