Why dont we have a photo progress area. Where lets say your car is going for a colour change and wide arse etc.

You start a thread in that area that is locked down for only you to add things, that way each time there is an update it does not get bogged down with comments and everyone can easly see the progress.

Trying to follow things like he V8 conversions is hard work when you only want to see/read how its progressing without skipping over the 8000 posts of

"It looks great"

and

"Cant wait to see it on the road"

Thoughts??

i think it's a really good idea especially as said for people with major things going on ie conversions/rebuilds etc

We used to have an area like that, called the diary or something. Suspect it was an add-on that wasn't compatible with the current version of forum s/w.

The Journal yeh. I spent ages one day putting all my project details on it, then a few days later the Journal was completely removed :headvswal lol

yeah i remember the journal. i know not many people fancied filling it in, but as said above its a great way for people to show what they're doing to their motors.

Instead of it being an all singing dancing area made for it, all you need is a new section the same as the rest of the forum that when someone creats a topic it gets locked to just them being able to edit/add to it.

Only works if the forum s/w can do that though. The fact that a journal application was created suggests that it may not.

ok. I would have though all forum software will alow you to change permissions on indervidual threads though?

Would be good if it could be looked into, well thats if people think it would be used/helpful?

Oh yeah, an Admin can do that, the question is can a forum be automatically set up such that a normal user can create a thread to which no one else can post ? It kind of goes against what forums are there for. I'll have a think about it.

Can this not be done in my cars tho??

i read someones on here and the had loads of pics etc i think it was CJs

OK, you now have what I think you want, it's called Journal - take a look.

but wouldn't people want comments/feedback from others on there projects ?

This is what I was thinking.

Knowing PHP and BB2 coding, I don't think there is a functionality in the raw build of the code that allowed single users to start thread but block replies from everyone else. The only way you'd be able to do that is get the mods to delete the comments at the end of a time period i.e. 1 week. But then that's causing loads more work for the mods.

Having a new section for Members projects, enhancements etc is a good idea but I think it would be too much work to limit replies to project threads.

lol

Cant im not subscribed lol

What I ment was, anyone can start a thread (like the normal forum) then once a thread is started a Mod or Admin will go into that thread and lock it so only the person who started it can add to it.

Dont know if thats what you've done cos i cant see it lol.

Maybe Project Progress would be a more apt title?

But thats what the normal area is for, would be nice to see all updates on peoples projects in one place without the junk to wade though and multiple threads as well as the updates with comments we have now.

lol

Hmmm, that's a shame .... why would we give all these benefits to unsubscribed members ? ..... ;)
