Who has these fitted? Show me your pics and fitting locations thanks.

Im looking at buying (yes more spending) some omp seats with harnesses.

Im thinking i can strap them to the original front inside belt bolt(tranmission tunnel) and then to the rear seat belt locations, but what will i do about the outside strap? mine is jap spec and its on the door ggrrrrrr.

Does anyone happen to know if there is a hole or bolt location on that side i could use? Or do i have to weld a plate and nut there?

One other thing, who has omp seats fitted? where did you get brackets from or did you have to fabricate some?

ok, bear with me, this is hard to describe -

for the lower straps, there is a threaded hole already in place under the carpet below the rear trim that seat belts fitted to B-pillar would bolt to. Does that make sense ?

for the transmission tunnel side you cant use the existing seat belt buckle location, as thats currently bolted to the stock seat. You will need to buy a Plate with nut, then cut a hole in the tunnel and weld the plate into it.

Like this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Harness-eye-backing-plate-FIA-approved-x-5_W0QQitemZ370117244713QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item370117244713&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

for the top straps, dont bolt them to the rear seat belt location. You will kill yourself in a crash. They need to be bolted at shoulder height. If they are bolted in a low place like the rear seat belt holes then in the event of a crash the force will pull downwards and cruch your spine. Very dangerous.

The obvious solution is a Rear 4 point cage, or a Harness bar. But thats not so simple in a 2+2.

right so its not soo simple dam it. :( Hmmm i did read a thread on here about straping them to the rear shock mounts i think, but i dont think the straps will reach that far. What about a rear strut bar?

I've just measured my harnesses, and on the longest setting from the point they leave my shoulders to the end is 120cm.

Not sure if thats long enough ?

I would'nt trust fixing it to a strut brace, its not designed to have forces pulled on it in that way, but if you could plate up somewhere in the back it will reach to then thats better.

They would make your rear seats unusable.

aha i think i got it.

I can weld two more of theose plates to the rear boot in the centre the screw in these eye bolts http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Harness-eye-Seat-safty-belt-eye-x-5_W0QQitemZ280286935021QQihZ018QQcategoryZ72229QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 and attach straps to these that way it will only be about 10degress angle from the seat?

This way the straps will pass through the centre of the car and rear passengers on the sides wont be too affected. Im talking about 3 strap harness btw so i only need one for each side.

its still going to be in the centre of where your rear passanger will sit, 4 or 3 point harnesses fitted properly will stop people sitting in the back.

if yours is a J-spec then im pretty sure you wont have a bolt hole in the B pillar as your belts are in the doors.

if you imagen these as 3 pointers the shoulder strap will be in the middle of the two each side in the pic...... no room for rear passangers heads safely

where you mean when u say top? you mean the centre pillar?

yeh. But you dont need that anyway, not for harnesses, only relevent if you were relocating your belts.

also, if you're putting in harnesses, how are people going to get in the back? the seats cant be folded forward unless you disconnect the straps from the anchor points as there is not enough free play in them, and that would be hassle.

ah *****cks, they are reclining seats tho.

oh i just got your joke 3/4 quarter harness ahah very funny

have you got another photo of the brackets you made?

If you go for Harnesses on a 2+2 then you may as well rip out the rear seats and cage the car.

and how cool is that ^

Not cool at all.... cos if you are ripping out the back seats and putting harness and bucket seats in you might as well have bought a proper car in the first place:slap

:D:D

Sucks at drifting - yes, its harder to control when it lets go as it reacts quicker

Sucks at High speed - nonsense!
