Is that with the column moving left and right? If so mine has started to do this as well - what causes it? Is it possible to fix?

no mate my steering wheel has to much freeplay....not the column itself..yours sounds like headset bearing....which is in the bulkhead and this can be changed..........

Hi,

As you may or may not know, I'm breaking a Twin Turbo at the moment. The steering on mine was A1. If you do need any steering parts then let me know.

When I bought the car there was a 1" play from left to right on the wheel. So on extensive investigation all fixings were tight! hhhmmm ok Seeing no problem at all? So I fabricated a spacer out of a rubber/silicone block when fitted, problem solved. Can this be of assistance to anyone.

harve.

Check the U-J at the bottom of the column where it connects to the rack. $85 from courtesy and very easy to get to. I would recommend purchasing the 2 rack bushings at the same time. Very cheap!

my Steering wheel has a bit of play but ithink thats pretty normal.

If its more than this check your lower UJ, cost about £40 from nissan. Simple job.

Sideways movement of the column is probably the wedge shaped clamps underneath the plastic cover behind the wheel and in front of the dash. Loosen them off, push them in tight, retighten.

Coogs, £40? Are you sure? Nissan UK quoted me over twice that much hence why I went to Courtesy. I had about 1.5 inches of play. I found that about 70% of play was in the worn UJ and about 10% in the rack bushings. 20% remaining seems normal to me. I had the rack bushings done afterwards and noticed the difference.

I lied. Checked the bill £114.09 incl vat. I needed mine for my MOT so had no time to shop around.
