A couple of hours ago I had a phone call from a very tearful Diane(Emero), someone broke into her house today and stole her laptop and her sons playstation 2. Unfortunately they weren't insured and she's not going to be in a position to replace them for several months.

Now normally I would have enough computer parts lying round to be able to build another up, however I recently built all the spares I could cobble together for a computer I gave to my cousin.

So if anyone would be kind enough to have a look around for any computer spares they don't need any more so I could try and help Diane by giving her another computer it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your time

Dave

That's what I like about this club. You're a top man mate.

My thoughts go out to Diane - that's a horrid thing to happen; especially so near Christmas. I hope they catch the scum who did it:(

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thank you, that is incredibly generous of you, as Richard said that's the attitude that makes this club what it is.

Have just been on the phone to Diane and have changed all of her passwords for her, she also asked me to pass on her thanks to everyone here. I'm sure she'll thank you all personally when she gets back online.

That's a lovely offer Dave, that's almost a complete system :hyper: it's a bit much to send in the post though so would it be possible for me to come and collect at some point?

If you've got a graphics card to finish SkylineDaves system that would be most appreciated, I'm discussing PS2s with ianl at the moment so I think I'm ok on that front.

Parts from a laptop are rarely transferable to a PC, and any faults with it are probably going to be very difficult to repair, so I think I'll give that a miss, but thank you very much for the offer.

Hi mate, i live near leicester and i'm seeing diane in the next week so i could perhaps go early and take it all over for her?

Failing that i do have a laptop i don't use very often she could borrow until she's back on her feet?

I also have a ps2 that's not being used

You have got to love the spirt of this club its amzing :)

But unfortinatly i dont have anything to offer..

I have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop that I can donate. It does need the power inlet soldering back on. But was running perfectly before it ran out of battery. If someone can repair that. Even have a laptop bag as well to throw in.

Some of this is starting to get confusing, I have offers from left/right/centre/top/bottom but I'm trying to do my best to keep track of what's going on.

I wasn't expecting this level of kindness, I knew we have a very close club but this response is just inspiring.

you got PM Dave :)

You have a reply PM Dave :)

I'm going to going to hinckley on saturday so could meet skylinedave there, unless you could arrange something between you if that's easier.

I think FunkySis kind donation of a laptop might be better for Diane than a loaned laptop, and ianl has already offered to put his PS2 in the post tomorrow. But you have Dianes number so could always check with her :)

Fortunately it's the thought that counts, so thank you very much :)

That could be a very nice offer, I'm actually a JIS qualified soldering technician so the repair shouldn't be any problem. :)

try and build the system, if you are missing any parts, let me know as I will probably have them here somewhere

Please send my regards to Diane.

I have an IBM laptop with Case that I can donate if you don't get what you need. It's about 7 years old but still works well.
