Just wondering if anybody on here owns a honda s2000 or has owned one?

i'm thinking about a 2003 s2000 as a replacement for the z and would like to know how it stacks up against a lwb tt.

Don't get me wrong, i love my zed and will hate to not have one around but i just can't do it justice at the moment on the upkeep front with my meager income. I know having a fast car seems retarded when you are poor but, at the moment anyway, i am willing to sacrifice almost evrything else to be able to have a laugh im my car, and with the z its just stress at what will need fixed next.

cheers, J.

Hey mate I owned one for about 3 years and it was awesome. Fab car goes like stink and is like a go cart.

Small nimble and just a laugh. Not as quick in a straight line as a modded zed but around twistys it awesome also very modern and if you dont drive like me the engine is virtually unburstable. (I blew mine up sadly) Loved every minute of the S it was a really really nice car.

They are a bit odd when you first drive them as they dont seem that quick as you need to get them upto 6k before they go but keep the revs hi and they fly. two trips to lemans and many many track days in mine and I cant say enough good things about it.

I made the mistake of selling mine for a 911 996 and missed it every day, but wanted back seats for the little person. The Zed is perfcet now has back seats and like the S is a bit mad.... Ideal :-)

cheers fella. Good shout. How many miles had you put on it before it went 'pop'?

I bought it with 30k and it blew at about 50k I think it was already knackered when I got it as the replacement engine felt very different. Ace little car mate every roundabout was a playground.

Alot of my mates still have them. You wont get the acceleration you get on the zed but what you do get is a car that is as precise as a ballet dancer when it comes to handling.

My boss has one and loves it, it seems to put up with his constant abuse (revving it to 6k plus when cold makes me cringe!)

I think hes done about 30k in his from new now and no problems - just a bit impracticle size wise thats all.

one of the boys from my garage, his bro had a VX220 and swapped it for a S2000 and loves it but i havent driven either so can't comment

I had one (and a few other Honda's) and the VTEC engines are excellent (twin profile cams) just stomps to the limiter with no slow down, I had to get rid due to a relationship split : (

They (as most high performance cars) will check the entire system (oil temp, pressure and a gazillion other perameters) before you let the horse's out.

Honda engines (and build quality) are exceptional and (as like with any other Jap car) last forever if serviced correctly.

The only reason I did not get one this time round is that there is nothing in the region of the 2+2's - like the 300zx, GTO or Supra.

Thanks peeps. With the seemingly worthless hunk of junk i liked to think of as my pride and joy now with a broken autobox i don't think that even if i sell evrything i own ill be able to scrape together enough fo one of these. Thoughts for the future though. Many thanks again. Jamie

Brother had one and they drive superb. Through the twisties they will leave a Zed for dead, the power doesn't feel anywhere near as good as the TT Z32 but about on par with an N/A. BUT you do need to keep them revs up!

Solidly built car with great looks and an engine note to die for! Also VERY VERY reliable! And can pick up a good one for less than 8K now.

Sounds nice! (m3) No advice i'm afraid, but you are welcome to the thread. I think i'm all done now, the s2000 sounds nice but will have to wait. Thanks all for your helpful posts!
