could be the crank is moving and is putting stress on the box causing the bearings to go. the labour for remove and re-fit should be about £100 Is it definitely the box making the noise and did anyone put oil in it after it was re-built ?

It would be possible to push over 500 bhp if you spent 10k on mods and that would be a very fast zed. Itus not a bad car to start with as it already has plenty of power and torque. you can easily run 370-400 bhp on stock internals just with fueling and boost refinements. Y would anyone on this earth suggest a GTO is beyond me as you will be constantly fixing stupid problems and then every other week big problems, and they are not easy to work on !
