  1. Kinda, my car is an auto anyway, always has been and always will be, no specific reason other than I like it that way and it is satisfying dragging a manual car. I managed I do think that a properly set up auto that can get off the line on-boost at this kind of power level should be better for drag than a manual, if for no other reason than instant change-ups on full throttle. I've got more than enough power to compensate for the loss through the slush box... its more about stopping the wheels spinning. I've also fitted a manual diff which is higher gearing so I should be pretty much at the 1/4 mile marker or thereabouts in 3rd. I want(ed) the Z32 box as it is much stronger than the Skyline box and there seem to be far more go-fast bits available for it, so I decided to buy one and start tricking it out that way I can take my time and make the right decisions about it.
  2. Old thread so probably irrelevant now, but tell him to lock the HICAS. It's cheap enough to do with a lock-out bar. You really don't want a 20+ year old car trying to steer its rear wheels. It doesn't add to the driving enjoyment when it is working, and if it isn't working properly then it will throw you into a hedge, or worse. How is it running now out of interest?
  3. Thanks for the welcome, I forgot to mention that she also occasionally sports a pair of 300ZX standard 16" wheels with semi slicks for my drag runs, and a Z32 AFM so its practically a 300ZX anyway. ;-)
  4. Hello all, definitely feel like a voyeur as I don't actually own a 300ZX, well not all of one anyway... My car is a stage 3 (GT3582 and all the trimmings) '94 Skyline GTST for which I have just invested in an RE4R03A auto box from a Z32TT to replace the standard RE4R01A. The old box is still going strong with a valve body upgrade but I don't want to invest any more in it as I think it is right on the edge of the power it can realistically handle. So, I want to trick the new box out before I fit it (high on the list is a high stall TC, valve upgrades, and eventually a replacement TCM) and can't think of anywhere better to come for some guidance and maybe parts than here, which I am sure is full of fine motors sporting this box out of the, erm, box. I'll spend some time reading through posts, but if anyone has any nuggets of wisdom in the meantime.... my car is not a daily driver, though I do want it to be usable on the road, I am mostly interested in fast 1/4 ET's and the occasional use on a track. Cheers, Tim
