The zed is dead ... ?
I'm in wolves, I started it on a couple of days a ago and it appeared to run and idle ok, but obviously splurted out the water from underneath very quickly and I turned it off. I believe it was my own fault for running this as a daily for the few weeks leading up to this incident! Thought it would be ok having had so much maintenance and repairs done but you just never can tell. Anyway, I've replaced it with a redtop 2.2 prelude vti. And it just seems so sedated, I miss boost!

The zed is dead ... ?
Thanks for the advice all! I'd filled it from the rad but to be honest I've sort of given up all hope is this car, it was a dream to own (well drive, it was a nightmare to own!), but I was always afraid something bad was gonna happen. As much as I'd have had a compression test done and checked out the pump as suggested, over the past 2 weeks since it happened I've slowly been resigning myself to the fact that after everything I can't keep pouring cash down on this. Just wanna say that after all these years (I'd actually joined the forum circa 2002!) I'm glad I finally had one, but more than that I was a happy place at the 300zx forum! As someone once said 'it's been emotional' Thanks again all! (ps. I'm still gonna read the forums!)

The zed is dead ... ?
Looks like it's over, could do with a little internet diagnosis to confirm it! Last week on a quick motorway run I had a nice friendly chap in an Evo come by to tell me there was something wrong with my car. I slowed down and then the temp started to rise, so put the heaters on full and it dropped, a mile or two later I'm on the slip road and drop the window slightly to here a rattle which I figured was the other car - it wasn't! Anyway the rattle (can only describe it as diesel like) would disappear at certain revs. Anyway, got home and popped the bonnet to see some oily residue on the fuse block (pass side above the headlight). Next day I tried to put some water in it (it has all gone) but it leaked out the bottom appearing directly underneath the engine block and somewhere on the driverside arch area. I've not tried to start it since it didn't hold water. So, I realise it's difficult to say, but in an nutshell from the above, do you think it's shot? How far does the temp needle need to go before it's too late? Mine went 3/4 of the way up bearing in mind normal operation in below centre. Apols for the long post!

hose going nowhere...
Thanks Tudor. I couldn't work out if it was the EGR or AIV as the pics are for american motors, but there is an EBC fitted. Reason for my head under the bonnet was the raised idle speed which I thought could be related to a vacuum leak somewhere. That and the late and hard shifting of the 'box (except when hold was on??). Anyway, I'll go and have another look shortly.. Cheers!

hose going nowhere...
Evening all, I could do with some help to find out where this particular pipe should go, at the moment it is dangling! http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff514/300zx_tt/IMAG0190x.jpg Pic taken from the drivers side wing,I put an arrow on the hose that isn't connected to anything, I had a look around and it isn't apparent where it might go. It is losing some sort of fluid though. It is connected to a block which has a few other hoses connected to it - but I don't know what the block is for. Car is an auto tt. Thanks in advance!

ten year old bmw or merc?
my thoughts exactly!

Feeling slightly guilty, i've had to defect.
Funny seeing this, my daily is a 5 series too! well at the moment its the zed as the bm has a coolant leak but anyway, with both of these there is nothing i can genuinely think of replacing them with (for the money!). I think its the perfect combination! oh and keep the zed!

woohoo! 170 mile drive completed!
Servicing and repaires have all been by Zedworld, bar the pas pipe where I had to go elsewhere as they were fully booked for three weeks. In hindsight I should have waited as the local place didn't do it right the first time, and it still isn't right now (the idle). Its going back to zedworld soon, just need to find the time! 1500 miles in a week?? - don't know if I'd have the courage!

woohoo! 170 mile drive completed!
Well, my first real drive completed without any hiccups! After the coolants leaks, pas leaks, vacuum leaks (caused by the garage whilst attempting to fix the pas, with another minor one I still need to find), safety boost (put the resistor back in and its gone!), wrong sized tyres (previous owner and I had them replaced like for like without checking!), broken sill (jacked up too close to the rear wheel and it sank - still to fix) I was 'forced' to use the zed for my work commute - and it made it! I was very cautious, nervous and slow for the first half of the journey given that the car hasn't done more than 20 miles straight since I bought it, but figured what else can possibly go wrong now. It is idling a little high and has been since the pas was fixed but I took it anyway. What a drive, it is like instant power, the tail was a little twitchy was planting it for an overtake at speed and there are a few niggling rattles but wow - I'm so glad I got the TT instead of the NA now. These things are amazing! (just hope it starts when I get back to it at the end of the day!)

miles per gallon
Have a look at this link, explains it there http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm I had a resistor in one of the connectors which I removed and am now running in safety mode too - got to put it back (wasn't sure what it was for)

z32 security system problem
That depends on the system, but my own experience has been that the ignition lights should still come on. The pump may be part of the immobilisor, along with another component (again depends on the security system). Did the alarm go off?

Anyone after some wheels?
I would have except his phone has been off since. Anyway i'm quite comfortable on the stock rims now so probably won't bother. Thanks tho.

Anyone after some wheels?
My first help request! I picked up these wheels, but when I fitted the rear the car wouldn't move, felt like the handbrake was on, double checked them and they were difficult to remove (like removing wheels that have been on the car for ages). Anyway, now that it appears I'm stuck with them, is there anything I can do to make them fit? I wanted to avoid putting new tyres on the stock rims, but ended up having to do that is these didn't work.

New Z owner!
Thanks again! Jeff has serviced and corrected some faults with the car do to with the variable valve timing and some other bits, and also confirmed that it has the mines ecu. After that it now definitely seems a different animal, the acceleration is now more apparent in the lower rev ranges and took me by surprise on more than one occasion. Well happy! - Thanks Jeff! and all for the welcome - finally a member of the Z club - just need to sort the sub out next week...

New Z owner!
Thanks all! Can't find anything relating to Mine's in the car, I'll ask if Zedworld notice anything on Friday though

New Z owner!
Thanks guys! ... have a quick question though, has anyone come across that name signed into the bonnet? The chap mentioned mings tuning, and a quick search has shown up the last time this was on ebay with a 500hp claim! btw he never claimed that to me, simply said that turning the boost controller on will give me approx 400hp....

New Z owner!
Hello All ! I've finally made it, finally have it on the drive, finally experienced the rush on boost with the sun above me... I finally have a TT! After a long time of thinking should I and can I, I've finally gone and bought one! And I know I shouldn't buy the first one I see, but the bloke was genuine and that was enough. I'm going to book it in to zed world tomorrow for a list of jobs that, hopefully, should buy me some reliability. There is an oil leak visable underneath towards the back of the engine, the steering wheel can be turned about 5mm without the wheels noticing, the fluids need to be changed and an oil cooler added. Oh and I knew it was going to be thirsty but damn!! Still smiling though!

Ex forum member's car?
Hi, Long time lurker and dreamer - this is my first z! Amazing, absolutely the best car I have ever driven, I was going to check out a manual n/a and at the last minute decided to view this. The TT was always the dream for me and this one came true!
