  1. As described, I'm after a set of 4
  2. Andy is your man Ben, perfectionist too :)
  3. Cheers! Yes they're genuine, thinking either anthracite or a dark bronze for the wheels. Not sure yet though. Properly Fitted my boost gauge today, max boost reading just over 10psi
  4. Haha, andy also makes a damn great coffee too! and about the wheels yep, they were on the car when I saw it, a bit too boy racer for now, but they'll be gone to make way for some TE37s maybe!
  5. I love the tinted look, looks nice and stealthy, the red 300zx reminds me of the blackbird SR71 proper good job!
  6. I was thinking if it can't boost properly, check if it's in safety boost? Code should be 34, 3 slow flashes and 4 quick flashes
  7. Enjoy it buddy, I had a real soft spot for it, especially with that impul kit and the exhausts!!
  8. Hi all, I'm relatively new to the forum, but I've been browsing for a while. I placed a deposit for Martins car (Pebkau) a while ago, unfortunately that had fallen through, but in the end it went to probably one of the youngest owners, circumstances changed when I had problems with my daily car. Since then I started to research about what to do with a zed when I eventually got one, I picked up a lot of small things along the way, sensors, hoses, just general parts and what not. My surprised me with a black manual zed he picked up, given the condition of the car wasn't all that great, he figured it will be a nice project for us. When we examined the car it was quite slow, probably just over 200bhp, acceleration was very linear and no drama, it stunk of fuel in and out, so I began work with all the parts I bought, replaced vac hoses that I could see and remove, with silicon parts. I replaced the fuel filter, some fuel hoses, spark plugs, oils, oil filter just a general service and a host of new sensors. I upgraded to an S2 PTU the results speak for themselves after all these small changes and that it was much needed, as it stands it feels much more like a 300bhp car, but its not there yet. The car came with no history, so i checked online to verify its history of its milage online of its MOT and advisories since she was imported. All good there, so she stands at proper 60k miles. I bought a MBC just to check the turbos are indeed working, after more changes the MBC was not really necessary as it boosted nicely, currently it reads 10psi on my aftermarket boost gauge so I turned the controller back down when she got healthy. After all the little work, the car is now cleared from its codes. The most difficult thing for me working on it, are the rusted and seized parts, breaker bar is definitely useful... the car is on BC coilovers, it came with buckets and an aftermarket steering wheel, she sits on enkei wheels, very japanese. Bad parts primarily is the rusted sill and arch on one side, but the purpose for it wasn't all aesthetics, I'm aiming to build something I can really have some fun on around a track, meaning it will have very few fancy things, but more aiming to be more track focused with how I envision, so the shoddy bodywork and interior is no concern at this stage, I will plan on a full respray along with the sills fixed as soon as the engine work is done, the bigger to do list will be timing belt, bigger injectors and ECU I messaged a forum member Andy (phutumsch) for some 99spec tails making to my specs, I wanted mine slightly tinted as I thought the clear parts were too contrasting with the colour of the car, I also requested the red to be a bit deeper and darker, I prefer more subtle touches, and I absolutely love the work he did, absolutely perfect to how I wanted them Andy Didn't want to be in the picture but it's all good, (awesome awesome awesome SWB slicktop by the way) I cant seem to find the images of that amazing engine bay darn! over the moon with the lights!!!! Awesome guy too, helped me out with some bust number plate lights and fuses! She's getting more tidier by the week!
  9. Hey! Awesome car, I wanted to buy this, really had a soft spot for it! Martin told me about you earlier, big respect for saving up! the body kit is extremely rare and valuable, I suggest you not sell those! they are Impul, old school nismo tuners back in the day. I'd check the car over for codes, easiest way is to do this - bear in mind it is on the driver side, this video shows a left hand drive car, so it will be on the right hand side just under the steering wheel and near the pedals My old man recently got a 300zx, which is now a joint project because I was in the position to buy one (martins) until the BMW gave me some financial setbacks, so he turned up with a zed to my apartment, totally shocked to see it. You can buy cheapo gauges on ebay, some called dragon gauges for just over a tenner to check your boost and pressure levels, I went ahead and bought some prosport gauges to check my boost, surprisingly it was quite healthy after a few amendments. Mine was also very linear as you described when we test it against my bmw (and was miserable, couldn't keep up whatsoever) however Prior to receiving the Zed I was already collecting bits for the car, I've done extensive research and over the last few days we did the following with the parts I collected: engine oil change transmission oil change a lot of vacuum hoses changed to silicon parts (a few of them were cracked) some fuel hoses changed (stunk of fuel in the engine) fuel filter changed oil filter changed spark plugs changed coolant drained and replaced (I advise water wetter for coolant) series 2 PTU and harness (thank you Ian for the harness saved me splicing everything) throttle position sensor changed 2 temperature sensors changed installed the boost gauge, just running around 10psi, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe stock are around 9psi? Initially I upped it to 1 bar (14psi) but it was way too aggressive without the necessary mods i.e ECU, bigger injectors and electronic boost controller. I also have a manual boost controller to see if the turbos were actually working, because how linear it felt after changing the plugs to some NGK ones and solved most of the misfiring issues, the controller is now set to the lowest setting. Now shes running really well, doesnt smell rich anymore and much much faster than my BMW now! As for sound mine isnt quite I dont think, I can hear slight woosh over the exhaust when it's boosting and letting off the throttle The car feels like a different machine now, so much that it's pretty much wrecked my clutch.. Typical advisories and priority are to get the timing belt, pulleys, tensioner and water pump replaced, which is the next big job for me to do on our car. Reputable near london I would suggest powerzed at bristol, the guy is known as jimmer.
  10. I'll still be here though :) like I said to Martin I'll be on the hunt for nice parts etc, if anyone has a spec 99 bumper and lights shoot me with a mail and we can arrange a finance plan :P the BMW is commanding my money these next few months, boo.
  11. Thanks for the replies guys, unfortunately I won't be able to go ahead with the ZED, my BMW is in for some unexpected costly repairs after its service yesterday, which is so frustrating, it drove fine but apparently the issues with the BM needs to be fixed, error codes told them a swirl flap failure and also turbo problems. I was really looking forward to tomorrow!! argh!!!
  12. Awesome Version R, I can't wait to it! I'll probably have a whole host of questions about the zed and it's engine in particular, manual tranny conversion is an absolute must for me and what I want to do with the car, I pick it up Wednesday hopefully, so we can meet whenever you're free
  13. Nice! so the blue bmw is yours too, lovely F30 Msport! Cant wait to get it literally losing sleep over it. Not good for work! based in salford at the moment, so not too far from you M60 and M62. Can't wait to meet some peeps, its been awhile since I've been involved within a forum community of enthusiasts and judging by what Martin has already told me, they're some really cool guys on here which is good to hear!
  14. I'm scowling Z center.. finding it extremely difficult to kill my impulses!
  15. Hello everyone, I'm a new member here eagerly waiting to pick up my first Zed. I drive a bmw E92 330d at the moment as a daily and fancied one of the old 90s japanese performance cars, I've always been real fan of the old 90's design. Put a deposit for Martins car, great guy and was very thorough, told me everything that was wrong with the car, pleasant and honest chap. It's a LWB TT Auto. Before I went for the zed I was also looking at RX7s and R32 GTR's, however didn't really manage to find any good condition cars worthy to be a project - rusty, damaged and abused, better conditions were well out of budget and were more of a ''buy and play'' As a project car I'm interested to hear whether if there are any local experienced members around the areas of lancashire and yorkshire? I'd like to do a belt change and service, and I'm happy and willing to pay an experienced forum member to do it if they have the time, I'll benefit from the owners experience and learn more about this car faster, someone who loves talking about it would be ideal Engine and running will be my main focus when I get it, so with this being a G reg, and likely that this is its original engine with it being an early car, I've read they have problems with warping valves for really early cars, this being one of them. Are there any other problems I should be looking for at this age? Any sources for engine parts that people know on here? I'm in two mindsets for the engine, spend money to get it up to scratch or get a conversion, manual transmission is a must for me, the BMW is already an Auto and it does an excellent job of it. I have two options I'm keen to take, 1 is an SR20 engine, and the other is an RB26. I'm fine with either engine, but if anyone has done a conversion, please feel free to share, all comments and opinions are welcome. I'm looking to build something that can gain 300+bhp be driven hard, reliable, lighter in weight and easier to maintain. cosmetics will probably be the last thing, I'm not interested in any bodykits or things like that, just some nice wheels, nice drop (i think this car has coilys not sure which) spec 99 lights and full respray. I can probably dump around 1k into this a month obviously there is a limit to how far I'm prepared to go! so fire away and share your ownership experience, I'd love to know more about this car. Also this is my first turbo petrol car, so I've still to learn about all the boost stuff.
  16. I'm on the hunt for a decent 300zx for around 2-3K either in black or dark blue. must have a nice shell with absolute minimal rust Cash waiting! :)
