  1. Option 2 from my previous post then. All bark and no bite. I would genuinely love to see the so called sleeping lion awake, but I believe its just an anachronism, a hark back to days gone by when we made stuff and had an Empire. Which just will not return. We were a global financial powerhouse, whether we remain so is the question, but £1.2trillion of financial assets have already been moved out of the UK. I totally agree with Si (hi by the way mate), but the pair of us were fervent remainers in here. Brexit is happening no amount of discussion and moaning will change that, so I suspect, Si like I is hoping it will work, but struggling to see how. So far pretty much everything I have predicted to do with Brexit has been correct. So here's the next one for you. At the next general election Labour will offer an Europe referendum if they are elected. I also believe by 2030 will be applying to re-join, sadly without the influence and standing we had. Other than that politics aside hope everyone on here is doing well. May be a little while before I'm back in a Zed something else in the garage now :)
  2. Many apologies as well if I've offended anyone. Never my intention, but I do like a good debate and I am genuinely interested in other peoples point of view. In my defence I did post in the non Zed discussion bit :D Kind regards to all and I have found myself looking a Zeds again recently so you never know lol
  3. Totally agree within 5 years there will be conversations about re joining, referendums and the advantages of being a common market. Within 10 years we will be re applying to join. Hands up all those who think we will get as good a deal as we had! The way I see it, there are currently only 2 possible outcomes for 2021 with regards to Europe. Boris sticks to his guns we walk away without a deal, he is then forced to break the signed treaty and international law with regards to Ireland. This will result in a hard border between the Irelands as Europe will not allow free movement of goods and people from a third country. The knock on effect is the impact on the Good Friday agreement, resulting in, as has already been stated, America refusing to negotiate a trade deal with the UK. So we will have stuck 2 fingers up at the biggest trading block in the world and on the way out stuck two fingers up at the biggest economy in the world. We currently flip flop with France for 5th or 6th largest economy in this scenario I can see us dropping to 9th or 10th due to the lack of frictionless trade. Option 2, Boris realises at the last moment his game of bluff cannot work, the only real card we hold is the fishing rights which are no good to us but could cause up to 1/3 of European boats operating in our waters to go out of business ( I can only surmise how popular that will make us). If this is the case the way forward is to capitulate and accept what the EU is offering. We will become a satellite state abiding by their policies and rules, but with access to the benefits of the common market. At this point not only will Boris have thrown away our position and power within the EU, but he will also have failed to deliver any of his promises about leaving. We will truly be all bark and no bite. This unfortunately for our economy is now the least worst option. Neither way is a good way, but we have played Russian roulette with our economy and at each twist and turn Boris has put another bullet in the chamber and just keeps pulling the trigger denying that the inevitable will happen, Well its here folks so best of luck as they say
  4. Couldn't agree more Si. Don't forget though when Boris walks away in October with his "Australia" deal ( which is cover up speak for NO deal) we will have our sovereignty back and all the fishing rights (would be handy if we had a fishing fleet). On the bright side our truckers, for the cost of the slight inconvenience of buying a special passport to get into Kent, will be able to enjoy a 2 day break with 6999 of their best mates whilst waiting at customs. My prediction right now is in the first quarter of 2021 Boris will resign citing health issues. He will say he hung on long enough to get it past the post, but due to the long lasting effects of Coronavirus he is not fit enough to continue. He will then walk away from the apocalyptic recession he has caused leaving some other poor sod to watch the conservatives flounder until they lose the next general election. Right there you go I've poked the bear.
  5. Just popped back on for a mooch this makes really interesting reading now, And of course hi folks
  6. Day 2 of home schooling my children 2 children have been expelled for fighting 1 teacher has been dismissed for drinking during school hours where the fuck is the crossing guard and who knew - the dog actually does eat homework!
  7. I remember about 20 years ago I was on a management team building course and one of the exercises was to assemble an 8 piece large wooden shape. Teams of 4. Our instructor was blown away with how quick my team did it, recorded us at just over 7 seconds. Uploaded to their head office and we had the second fastest time ever recorded. Beaten by - you guessed it - a formula 1 pit crew who did it in just under 5 seconds. I would have bet every penny I had that it was impossible to go faster than we did, we never put a foot wrong. These guys are inhuman - hats off to them and always hugely impressive to watch.
  8. What they look like when grown
  9. Nope its definitely a cockchafer larva Also known as a May bug as you generally only see them in May. They live for up to 5 years underground before coming to the surface if you've dug that one up it would have matured next May. And I have no idea why I know crap like that!
  10. It's San Marino Blue, which should be an exclusive M6 colour, but I do have a friend of mine who used to work for BMW and obviously knows the people to shout at as her 330e is that colour
  11. Thanks Guys It's the competition pack as well for when you absolutely must have 600 horses. I have a feeling I might get a loyalty discount at my local tyre place as it will spin up pretty much anywhere anytime if you want it to. Weirdly getting rid of the Zed is a bit cathartic , I've dribbled so much money into it and got nowhere near the smiles per mile I should have done so cutting the cord feels like the right thing to do. I know I'll never find another shortie slicktop TT manual widebody but already in the back of my mind is the feeling that a standard (ish) TT might be a good thing to have and keep. So watch this space as they say.

  13. The Zed has gone! Exchanged in a piece of horse trading for a new filtration set up for my borehole. Swapped for about £5000 worth of kit. I was trying to be sad but still got the grin from the new daily
  14. I might have worded that wrong, what i mean by unintended consequences is things that happen as a direct result of you making a decision that you didn't realise would happen. The "didn't realise" in this instance is because we weren't told, not that people in power didn't know, and i didn't make that bit clear. In business or indeed life, decisions are generally made after you have learnt all that you can, or at least after you have weighed the pros and cons. Any decision any sane person makes at that instant is the right decision because you have weighed all the information available. When new information comes to light you may or may not change your mind. My problem here is the information was available, but we as the public, weren't given it and were still asked to make a decision. This is still going on as proved by the Yellowhammer document. I'm very much with Si here, we will never have all the information to make a totally informed decision, so if we are asked to make a decision it has to be the path of least risk. Any else is a gamble plain and simple. You are correct in saying we don't know exactly what will happen, but we do know some of it. The pound has already fallen. Trillions has been moved by investment houses from London to Dublin Japanese car manufacturers have pulled out of the UK We have spent Billions of taxpayers money trying make Brexit happen and will spend Billions more - so taxes will have to go up. My feeling is that in 10 years with the right political leadership we could be back to where we were economically in 2016. But we don't have the right leadership now and the next lot lined up (Corbyn) is wrong as well. So add 5 to 8 years to sort that out and we are looking at a 15 to 18 year period of uncertainty and possibly recession. Everyone who voted did so because they wanted something in particular and I appreciate that you will very rarely change someones political view by discussion. Something significant has to happen to change peoples minds. The Government seems to think though that we are not allowed to change our minds. How many years have to go past before we are allowed to question if the referendum result should still stand, 3,5, 10 a 100? I've said it before and I stand by it - we should have a second referendum, and if the result stands, I like many remainers will bow out graciously and say I gave it a shot but democracy has voted against my personal belief. My problem is though, that so much has happened and come to light that I just don't believe the public as a whole still feels the same way and I think we should find out.
  15. Doesn't look so silly now does it!
  16. I understand that and everyone votes for the things that are important to them, but if you knew as an unintended consequence your town would have no drinking water for 2 days a week for 6 months would that have made you think differently. It's the unintended consequences that cause the problems. For example net migration into the UK has fallen, something which many people perceived to be a problem, and was a significant trigger to vote leave. However the reason it's fallen is because the pound has plummeted in value and financially it's no longer attractive to come here, work and send money home. The unintended consequence is your holidays abroad are now 20% more expensive. That one's an easy one to follow, but the more you look at it the scarier it gets, and then add into the mix the current administration are trying not to tell the public what will happen whilst rushing headlong into it.
