  1. Thanks I'll have a look, to be honest I'm not sure of mods as I bought as it is, I no the turbos are uprated and injectors, it doesn't necessarily need a rebuild but if I do keep it and take it off the road For peace of mind I'd like to make sure it's all good, I'm in 2 minds every day I think something different , thanks
  2. Hi just after a little advice, I have my 300zx 430 bhp , and I now have an impreza sti as well , I was going to sell my 300 but I love it so am considering a rebuild, iv replaced clutch and cambelt fairl recent and the car isn't as bad to work on as I thought. I'm considering removing engine and stripping to a bare shell , it's in very good condition anyway but if I keep it want it mint, could anyone give me a rough guide on costs/ has someone rebuilt one on here. I'm thinking shells bearings all seals and gaskets etc will all required parts be easily available ? Thanks in advance for your help
  3. If I do decide to sell what's the procedure mate, thanks
  4. Just a quick apologie Gary, genuinely didn't realise I was doing wrong sorry again
  5. Thanks for the replys I'm in no rush whatever I decide so will just enjoy for net month or 2 thanks
  6. What are people's opinions on what will happen value wise with the 300. I'm considering selling my h plate tt manual 66k miles very tidy car I'd guess it's worth 4k tops. I have a garage to keep it in and I teach mechanics (was mechanic 15 years ) so I wondered if I'd be better keeping it dry stored take it for odd run etc or selling on. I don't have a clue if values have peaked and this is all they'll ever really be worth or if a steep climb in the future may occur thanks
  7. Had a nasty surprise when ramping my car at work, a small hole in the sill turned out to be a gapeing chasm!! I'm in the fortunate position of teaching mechanics at college though and my friend who teaches the welding course (best I've ever seen) has kindly offered to rectify it he's about half way through at mo and it will be mint , strong and look perfect when finished. Its a 90 tt manual with 426 bhp few nice mods and shows 64k with some paperwork to make me believe it's genuine, it's a uk car as well in white. Turns heads like nothing iv been in and goes like poo off a shovel. It confuses me a little why 300's are worth so little, supras 10k ish, skylines the same , z's just seem so cheap similar price to mr2s and things leagues below ,I was only planning on keeping it for summer 4 or 5 months but not sure now. Does anyone have an opinion on if they think the values will rise on these or are they always gonna be the performance bargain. I payed 3700 for mine and although not mint (couple small scabs n marks here and there) I'd describe as excellent for age . It would take n offer over 5k to even consider getting rid and even then there's nothing for that money that does what this does
  8. im aware of all factors and im not saying consistently what would it produce, more if all the stars aligned etc right conditions driver get a good start without bogging etc. I haven't tried a launch and I never will I like the car far to much to do them games lol
  9. bloody hell that's impressive performance/power. mines just 426 next step intercoolers then to be honest don't think I need any more than that as it feels bloody quick anyway and I don't wanna compromise reliability. gotta say though what a car, turns heads like a modern day supercar. makes me feel 17 again when I loved driving and would just jump in my car and go for a drive with no where to go
  10. thats what i thought iv seen 0-60 times of standard cars ranging from 5 to 5.4 secs so surely another 100 plus horse power is gonna bring it down substantially? obviously if your brave anough and not worried about clutch etc
  11. one more thing i have the common problem of oil pressure gauge all over the place , one min its up then not working at all, iv checked oil pressure with the oil pressure testing kit and its fine, i gather the sender is a common fault , iv lookled on the net and it doesnt seem an easy part to source, does any one have any contacts or no where i can purchase one thanks in advance
  12. yes its definitely standard, thanks i will definite be upgrading then soon. do the side mounts just bolt direct in place of old ones? any particular make recommended and any idea of costs thanks for any help
  13. any ideas what power increase a front intercooler would gain and is it worth buying an induction kit? id only want one for the sound really but i suspect it wont make alot of difference noise wise
  14. no i removed belt checked all bearings etc all fine. its only done 60k and generall opinion was only change if neccessary , it wasnt a bad job and if i ever here any sign of bearing rumble ill be on it. iv been a mechanic 15 yrs and now teach it at leicester college so im pretty experienced, only prob i had was bottom pully absaloutely seized on but a bit of gentle persuasion sorted that lol. love the car for 3700 quid theres nothing really quicker and the way it looks still amazes me. i plan on keeping it for many years
  15. lol i presume its stripped bare then
  16. Hi thanks for reply, I'm not 100% sure regards spec as I have not long owned it, I do no it's had updated turbos ,injectors and remap anything else I don't no. I have dyno'd printout at 426 bhp and I'm not after much more power to be honest if I can gain another 30 or 40 bhp without mass expense I will. Is a cone filter worth fitting I have fitted to certain cars in the past and it's made throttle response worse lol , I fitted cambelt last week not as bad as I expected
  17. Hi running a 1990 tt with 426 bhp, love it and don't wanna go overboard but thinking of an inter cooler, iv heard if you front mount it affects cooling so is it worth just dropping a cooler in the original location any idea on power gains from this ? Also iv thought about weight saving, has anyone else done this? Eg removing rear seat maybe replacing heAvy electric front seats etc, any tips ideas be appreciated
  18. Off the subject I fitted a cambelt last week after dreading for days turned out to be straight forward, I had ten years working on peugeot though so most stuff easy after them awful pieces of junk
  19. Yes that's where 0-60 is flawed on the perfect day in perfect conditions with a1 driver would be differnt to man in the streets time. I'd fancy my chances though when rolling in low go. My daily driver is an a4 2.8 quattro and don't get me wrong it's not a rocket but pulling off from a damp road or island it's rapid initially the grip is immense
  20. Ok sound thanks. I'm to worried about mechanicals to be attempting, what would you guess your 0-60 would be if caught it perfect with 450 bhp as be a pretty good guide. Amused me on way home yesterday an m135 bmw desperate to pass me got on bypass just effortlessly pulled away. I backed off at sensible speed and he went flying past then, I read up and there over 300bhp and do 0-60 in4.8 so I was pretty pleased with that
  21. Sound thanks . Like you said I don't mind giving it a bit but have to much mechanical sympathy to revving then dumping clutch which is the way to get best 0-60 - - - Updated - - - and whAt bhp are you running roughly
  22. Hi just quick question, I'm not a big believer that 0-60 is the be all and end all its made out as I find in gear acceleration much more important and usable , but regardless I'd wonder if anyone has tested there 0-60. My car is dyno'd at 426 bhp. I like it to much to destroy it and like to treat it like an old car but if I was brave enough to give it 4000 rpm dump the clutch and try and get best 0-60 time has anyone any opinion on a rough time ?? Also any rough guide what it would top out at. Thanks for any help . My guess would be 175 ish mph and around 4.5 to 60, does this sound about right thank you
  23. I will definitely be keeping my eyes open regards shows etc thanks - - - Updated - - - And I will upload pics over the weekend , pounds per smiles like nothing else
  24. Hi just joined the site , brought myself a 91 300zx tt manual. Dyno at 426 bhp only 63 k ,I absaloutely love it . Have owned 80 or 90 cars and none make me feel like I do when driving this thanks
