  3. This has now become my thinking but problem is that just to get someone to look at these things costs a fortune. If i'm honest i'm a little worried someone attempts diagnosing it and it isn't that and then the cost starts to build..... Now thinking to sell it. Feel completely ripped off - - - Updated - - - Can the check ball/valve open and close in this way?
  4. From what I've read up on and going on my gauge working after 20 years my oil pressure is ok but will do an oil pressure test tomorrow...

  6. O.k, I brought my zed (the blue wide arch recently on ebay advertised as sticky lifter) a few months ago with a tappy engine. I've driven it 300 miles and still no improvement. However in this period, the engine has gone completely quite as it should be and power has resumed all be it not for long. This continues to occur and I need help in getting this engine working as it should. The timing is fine, have unplugged vtc connectors and still nothing. On removing the oil cap whilst the engine is noisey there is minimal oil in the head, when the noise clears up oil is splashing around as it should. All help would be grateful as I am really stuck right now and out of pocket!!!! Also looking for someone to carry out the repair plus fit a manual conversion. So in short: Engine ticks/knocks from head/cams/lifters and has no oil to head and suffers a signifiant loss of power ( also misses on start up for a few seconds) When engine is running smoothly, oil is flowing to the head and the car pulls well??????????? PLEASE HELP ME
  7. I'm after a tensioner pulley used or new as long as it works. Needed asap please. Can collect dependent upon distance otherwise I can arrange for courier to collect. Cheers guys
  8. Thanks for the input mate. What do you mean by "dett"? Also I've just stripped down all timing to find the belt had a little more play in it than I would have liked. Also found that the tensioner does not retract hence why there is slack in the belt I'm guessing so now trying to get hold of a tensioner. I'm hoping it could just be this but will see once all is put back together.. And in regards to what you said, if I pull over, switch off and back on the noise will still be there so is this any good? Thanks again
  9. That's my car pal. The previous owner put that up but since then its cleared and returned and with it is a loss of power. If it was tappets surely once they're gone they're gone... All rattle noises cleared, power was good than again out of nowhere noise was back with no power...
  10. Ok so I was lucky enough to be the lucky buyer of the wide body 300zx recently on eBay. However there is a problem, maybe 2..... So I brought it with the suspicion that the tappets needed replacing however after a 260 mile drive home and starting it the next day the noise had completely cleared and full power seemed to be accessible (when noisy there is a significant loss of power) Later that day i stopped for 5 minutes, started again and to my disappointment the tapping noise had returned withdrawing the power with it.... I believe it had an oil change and treatment within the last month by the previous owner who also posted about this problem but I am now confused as to why it has cleared and come back. It's definitely a ticking noise and gets louder with the revs and definitely affects power... I'm thinking is the timing out or tensioner faulty but the last change was done by Jeff @Z World so doubt any faults there. It's as it the ecu is getting some wrong signals regarding the camshaft. Also with this is that when you accelerate hard and take foot of the car stalls (auto).. All ideas will be much appreciated and also looking for someone local who can carry out any work needed. Thanks guys

  19. All clicking the same pal. Spark plugs all sparking.... Coil pack is sweet. Cleaned ptu and tps but no difference.....

  24. Don't think it's a boost leak otherwise it wouldn't miss on idle. Or would it? If you accelerate gently it drives ok but the second you floor it, it all goes wrong... It hesitates massively
