  1. Fuel in the tank is 4 years old but did chuck some new petrol in the other day. As i say it runs when the car's cold but then doesn't take more than a couple of mins before it suddenly stops. The only thing i could think of that kicks in is the valve on the back of the plenum but it's been that long since i worked on a zed I can't remember most of the tricks.

Was going to pop the fuel line off on the intake, pull the fuse, crank it to take th pressure off then check i have pressure when it's warm.

The only horrible thing I did find is a mild hissing from the driver's side when it cuts out but could be anything internally or externally it was hard to tell.

Anyway back to the basics, plugs out, etc and i'll have to raid the old silver na zed at my dad's for parts to test with and see if any of those make a difference

I did pop a screwdriver to the injectors and they were all clicking when it was running.

  2. Afternoon all! It's been a while (about 3 years i think!) :) Hope you're all keeping well.

Well the poor old slicktop died on me nearly 4 years ago, down to 3 cylinders then stopped.

Realised the cat had collapsed so fitted a replacement exhaust section (with cats drilled through), blocked off the recirc pipes, removed AIV and rerouted vacuum tubes

Car started but failed to rev and had missfire on rev on right bank

Used ecutalk, right hand O2 sensor all over the place

Finally got round to removed said O2 sensor, found new one was threaded so finally this weekend managed to get time to clean and straighten the thread, got it in.

Car started after a bit of churning, idles fine from cold

    Then cut out

Lots of churning, managed to get it to restart then cut out again

Finally when warm would just turn over and over, no coughs etc like the fuel was cut off

Left it overnight, tried again the next day, started, idled fine, revved fine, again got warm after a couple of mins and then coughed and died.

Just spins with no coughs when slightly warm.

I've double and triple checked the vacuum lines are going to the correct parts of the engine but no luck.

I'm on the verge of junking the engine and fitting an NA just to get it back on the road after 4 years of it being dead(!)

    Any ideas guys?

  3. Build a garden office - mine is 7m x 4m and total so far is around £2500-2750 - that's including over the top insulation for a masisve build. You could easily build for less than £2k and keeping it to simple wood frame keeps it cheap!

It's taken me a few months with holidays/other half moving out etc breaking up the time i've had to build it but it went up very quickly!

Keep the zed, don't take on an extra monthly outgoing if you have the space to do it

  4. Had the next delivery so spent a few days off work getting the outside about finished. A few little bits to do to finish around the windows, fit the corner trims pieces, etc but looking very much like a garden office.

I've built a matching gate and closed off the side as well. Just the roof to finish and then onto the interior....

  5. Ahhh yes I remember now - I tried it but it was a specific auto speed sensor it needed and we had something similar. I think it was TT auto i needed and I tried TT auto which is why it didn't fit.

Well I have a few working speedos if you need the parts to replace you're welcome to mate

  6. I have some spare speedos if you need them Pete and I think I still have those speed sensors knocking around you lent me for the Stagea if you need them back. They're in a bag somewhere in the shed.

I have a feeling they were TT ones though from what i remember

  7. Bugger just realised my subscription's ran out and can't edit out the bit about not needing them so feel free to edit that out moderators - not trying to sell just informing that standard decat pipes won't fit around an auto box without having to hammer them or cut and weld in extra bends.

  8. I bought two sets of decats recently to fit to my auto SWB and as predicted they didn't fit around the box (japspeed ones)

I'm resorting to taking in my old chevy V8 exhaust and having some adapters made up to fit so won't need the decats.

The first set i bought had the turbo downpipes included, the japspeed ones fitted directly to the standard downpipes.

  9. Well a bit more of an update - had weddings to attend and things to sort out unfortunately so not massive amounts of progress.

Finished all the walls/windows with some minor work i need to do re-inforcing by the door to take the weight of the roof.

Been back up on the roof and finished attaching it securely to the frame and joists. Unfortunately lost my angle grinder so can't cut the overhang back till that reappears then I can attach the trim.

So spent the rest of the time finishing off the floor and working on the wall insulation.

Managed to pick up a pair of really nice solid doors for the internal wall for free from the side of the road as well! :)

More to come as I get back on it this weekend...
